Quick project go cart that I put a K-03 turbo on as kind of a joke. Pretty fun to drive around.

It spins pretty good, but dosen't really make any boost until you hit full throttle.

did you box in the carb?

We've done this a bunch of times and have never been able to make more than 1.5-2 psi. I've read that you need to box in the carb because they reference ambient air pressure. I am not expert though, just a hillbilly.

You should open up that motor and take the governor gear out

By boxing the carb do you mean filling the float so it won't crush?. All I did was take the float vent tube and put it on the compresser outlet tube. I doubt that this setup is pushing more 1.5psi

How much do those TD02's cost. The only reason my K03 is on a gocart instead of my car is because I found out that the turbine houseing was cracked after I had bought it.

  13. 08-30-2007 12:12 PM #13
It's a Mitsubishi TD02, smallest turbo in production if you can believe what you read on the intarwebz.

I have no idea what they cost, but here's the link where I found it:

    http://www.btinternet.com/~goosegog/turbodax.htm

This is where they ordered it:

    http://www.turboengineering.com/

    Get on it!

No oil line I just dumped some oil in the center housing. It seems to hold some oil in it plus I usually don't run it for more than 15 min.

and i thought the turbo i got acouple years ago off a dodge shadow 2.2l turbo was small i think it was a TD04E i think but that thing was tiny.. but the size of a quarter now thats some seriously small intercooler piping.. prolly pretty cheap too .since the size factor is soo small

  18. 09-20-2007 10:23 PM #18
I always thought Ko3's were the worlds smallest turbos

  19. 09-24-2007 05:45 PM #19
I would love to boost my 50cc motor bike it will do 47mph now with 5psi or so im shure it would hall some booty lol...

the td02 supposedly can be bought new for under $400..

Wonder how that would help my John Deere lawnmower out..

Need to ditch the carb and go fuel injection with standalone

i've wanted to efi on small engines before. the problem i keep running into is getting a good powersource off the engine to drive the electronics.

You can get about 4psi out of a VR6 smog pump on a 50cc.

The hole it made in the piston was pretty awesome. I second enclosing the carb if you do blow through.

I'm starting something similar, but I'm boosting a honda 400EX quad... I want to do draw through, it'll be cleaner and more ergonomic.

Would a K03 work on a 400CC 4 valve engine? I mean, it revs to 12000rpm, it's not like lag would be terrible.

  32. 10-10-2007 04:30 PM #32
I think the 400EX hits the factory rev limiter at somewhere between 7500 and 8000 RPM.

9200 stock on the 02, this one has a remapped CDI box, so it's like 11,800.
