    Thread: "DMN" transmission code

    1. 09-11-2007 09:39 PM #1
I have a 99 Jetta, AT, 2.0L. The transmission is shifting like crap so I'm thinking that maybe a fluid/filter change may be in order.

I have the sticker from the trunk of my car . . .

But I can't figure out what kind of transmission I have. I can't find any reference to a "DMN" transmission.

      What am I missing?

      Thx

first. check fluid levels, then go from there.

and if u think your sticker makes no sense, my 95 2.0 mk3 says tranny code APE, which according to all documents i can find, came in a 16v passat (096), yet the car came wired from factory with 01m?? go figure.

Not sure what you mean by that, but ...

With regard to the transmission, it tells me that the transmission code DMN. But I can't find any reference to that type of transmission here on the Vortex.

If it's a 4 speed auto with a 2.0L engine you have what is known as an 01M transmission.

I meant to add a link to a VIN decoder.

And it does look like the DMN transmission is one of the O1M trannys.

Thansk for the help. Now I can track down the parts I need.

As an aside, the DMN coded transmission doesn't seem to exist according to Etka...

      Got me.
