what are you planning now andy ? I still want a ride this up coming season

I'm going standalone, 3l with rods, running a different exhaust mani, and a few other small things to clean up the bay some more. Yeah man, i doubt i'll have the car to where i want it until mid-late summer but i'll definitely take you for a rip when it's all back together.

i think it looks better when some detail is left on the frame rails. i like the semi shaved look, completely shaved smooth is almost too clean, too worked over. i think what i want most is a clean and not cluttered bay. just how far do you go....

i did not smooth my frame rails, i think that i went middle of the road with mine. if i had to do it again i would leave the rain tray, weld up the holes in the rail (just like i did) to smooth but still leave the some what factory look, and get rid of any clutter.

i looked though your complete build thread and was impressed. love the way no raintray looks on show cars but just doesn't look quite right with the air intake for the airbox. unsure if i will run wiring through the frame rail or towards the middle of the car under the brake booster.

I don't understand why people run wires in the the frame rails. God forbid you have a short. I ran mine inside the fenders using the stock grommet on the new hole just inside the fender. Most people do this.

I agree, the wires that I didn't run through the fender I ran underneath the frame rail in insulated wrapping. I don't want to have to worry about 1 wire midway through the framerail coming a little loose.

it was not hard at all to do, besides, there are NO connections made in the harness section that runs through the frame rail. basically it is one section of wiring through the rail and all the connections are made either in the engine bay or inside the car. and i have that harness wrapped so well that it would take someone inside the rail with a hacksaw to cut it open.

Just to clarify, is it necessary to weld the seams in the bay, or is it OK to just remove the sealer, fill any unnecessary holes, and paint? (these bays are awesome !)

no, you do not have to weld the seams. welding the seams gives it an even smoother look, that and it gives it more strength.
