Does anyone have a good template for a form that states in proper wording that no warranty is implied, expressed or written and car will be sold as-is.One of the buyers of my car expressed interest in drag racing and autocrossing my car... and I don't want to hear back from him if he decides to race it and blow the tranny to kingdom come.

Most bill of sale forms actually do include a warranty that the title is valid and that you as the seller have the rights to sell it. I don't think it's really necessary to add that if the buyer doesn't care, but I am not a lawyer.http://www.ilrg.com/forms/wrntybil.html
cars.com has a good free generic form.. you might want to just copy'n'paste the "as is" section from the cars.com form into the simpler form above.

don't worry about the state-specific stuff... that's just for cases like Maryland where a notary has to be involved if the car is under 7 years old...

in MA, the only Lemon Law to worry about is if the car fails inspection, which it won't. But this guy kinda wants me to guarantee things won't break... which is absurd, especially considering he said he'd race it.![]()

Yeah, the hell with that.Asking for a warranty with a private car sale, even on a stock beige Camry, is like asking for financing.
Of course, people have asked me for financing.

I write my own up every time, but never anything that detailed."I, _____(buyer name)________, purchased 200X Subraru WRX Wagon, VIN # __________________, for $_______ from ___(seller name___________ on September 13, 2007, in AS IS condition.
-Buyer signature
-Seller signature"If a guy is asking for any more guaranty than that, I'd say "Nope, sorry."
A few years ago I sold my dad's 1984 Audi 5000 turbo for $1000, and I had a woman hounding me to let her make payments on it.

Yeah, I like cars. Definitely like cars.

That's just stupid. I would have told her, sure you can make payments...but you aren't getting the car until I'm paid in full... People are so retarded.

Some d-bag actually took my father to court after he blew the clutch on the Jeep he sold the guy. Heck, the guy stalled 3 times driving downhill when he came to pick the Jeep up…..But, 2 nice pics and the following custom Bill Of Sale was all dad needed to get the case dismissed:

also, I have a lien on the car
I suspect I should put something to the effect of: a title will be produced once payment to my lienholder has been received and the title has been released.

oh, also, the mileage displayed on the installed odometer (from a 2005 STI) is inaccurate, but there is a 'odometer swap' sticker on the B pillar
how do you work that out in paper?

Check your state's website for their downloadable form. As an example, here is the Utah form:http://tax.utah.gov/forms/current/tc-843.pdf

I know for a fact, at least all the cars I have bought and sold, all you need is "SOLD AS IS" and your golden.![]()
With the mileage, on the title there is a spot where the mileage is and all you do is check the box for "mileage over mechanical limits"
Don't know anything about liens on cars though, all the ones I have bought except for my OB were cash.
