Thread: Mod'ing your MK2 Online ... AutoModder.com

  1. 09-21-2007 01:26 AM #1
    Hey Guys.

I know some of you have a Mk4 or Mk5, and have been watching us over at this thread.... but I figured it's time to add some of the original dubs, that put VW on the "map" in the world of car customization!

http://www.AutoModder.com is a user oriented site, where we believe that we should keep our software free to the public, since the public contibutes to the site, either by voicing their opinions or suggestions. Even photoshoppers can upload their pictures to our site to contribute!

We've had some good success so far with the VW MK4, VW MK5 and Audi worlds, but I want to get back to the "root" of things and get the MK2 going as much as I possibly can.

So far there are a few mod's, but I need YOUR help to get things going, so please comment either on this thread, or for a quicker response, on our forums.

If you have a "MOD" that you want added, weather it be rims, bumpers, moldings, then please don't hesitate to ask! Posting a picture helps even more!.

Maybe you like your Golf / GTI completely stock..

Or maybe you like some colour matched D90's...

Or heck, maybe you want a cool Army Green Golf Country..

Whatever it may be, check out http://www.autoModder.com, then come back in this thread and tell me what you want to be added to help improve the site.

Hopefully you guys like it! Thanks goes out to BellCityDubber for supplying a much needed list of parts thus far!

    Talk to you soon.

Let us know what pics you need. Us Mk2 owners are pretty good pic whores!

Oh, and awesome job so far. I really like the wheel coloring option.

  10. 09-21-2007 06:28 AM #10
Throw some Mk2 original wheel options on there like Snowflakes and P-Slots that would be cool..

It looks like the car with the D-90's has no front lip. Please make sure we have at least a 16v lip, or maybe a mk3 vr6 one and a seat one

Your 2 door models still have a passenger side rear quarter glass

Needs some work, but at least it's FREE!

Site could be good, but like all of these sites, its only as good as the options....this site needs some more work

  18. 09-21-2007 10:42 AM #18
    needs a lot of work.
but so far it works pretty well.

    first off, get a jetta!

    Comments like these are PERFECT!

    I've added the following:

    Tranatula
    12 Hole Steelies
    PSlot
    Snowflake
    Changed D90's to Clubsport
    VR6 MK3 Lip

    "The site needs work"

These comments don't actually help at all, because "need work" is a pretty braud range to go by. I'm here posting so that I can see what you guys want added. It's by no means "finished".

The best way to help (in ORDER), is to:

    1) State what you want added to the site

    2) Post a picture of it, with exact description / size (if its a rim), this will allow me to work on it ASAP, instead of me looking aroudn the internet for a picture.

2a) If posting bumpers, try to get it on the same angle as the picture on the site, and have the car as light coloured as possible.

    Cheers! Thanks guys.

Keep the idea's coming and I'll add them ASAP.

EDIT: I have thick skin, so if you think something sucks, or isn't right, don't hesitate to post it, so that I can change it! I know the Big BUmper angle is a little off, I'm working on a new one as we speak.

As long as people enjoy it, I'll contiune to work on it. I'll never charge for this site, I plan to have some advertisers on there to help pay for server costs as soon as it's "up to par".

Your colors cover the window seals when they shouldn'. The silver car (what I'm assuming is your base) has chrome window trim. What I would do if I were you is make the color overlay outline not cover the window seals, and then add an option to make them black (like OE later models) by using an overlay that tints them dark/black.

EDIT: rain gutters too. THese are always black, and on the silver car they just look white because they're washed out. Try tinting them darker too.

I just noticed from using the site this morning that it had no option for the rear bumper. Front big bumper and a small rear looks weird lol

    Get options such as:

    OEM, 16v, 8v lips
i think snowflakes are 14" at least mine are on my car
    rear bumper options
Side trim: small, GTI, thick and such
a option to have body parts shaved
option to have trim/bumpers smoothed and painted
turns/side markers delete and style options
Bring a LOAD of wheel options, common and un common styles more options the better
Antenna options to compelte a "look"
maybe even go as far as to get the front lip/bumpers from say TMTuning the different style they sell. Not a vortex favourite but if you want your site to grow then others who are not using the vortex and like that look will want to use it.

Dont cater to the vortex sheep couture, cater to the MK2 community in which parts are made for.

euro smalls, chrome, black, and red striped

    smoked single rounds

    quad rounds, smoked, clear, yellow

    westy's, smoked, clear, yellow

and add some sportmaxx wheels for ****s and giggles

oh yeah it'd be cool if you could adjust the ride height to have rake

One thats always bugged me (and admittedly I havent tried the site yet) is we cant adjust offset to push the wheels in or out to check a poke fit. And one nice feature could be adding wider lips to wheels Just two Id like to use alot.
This is empty...Cuz Im too lazt to fix it now. Jus sayin.

Bumper lips. OEM late model doors AKA Big doors with no front quarter window, pop out rear quarter glass, OEM early flares, Late model 8v Flares and skirts, Late model G60/16v flares and skirts, The mentioned front lips, Id include a Mk1 duckbill in small and large for the small bumper guys. Mono wiper, shaved wiper options, Door handle options (chinese, OEM black, OEM chrome strip, chrome, Audi flat handles, shaved). Ok thats just the list I saw on what most of us would typically play with. Ill see what I can to dig up pics later. I gotta go do some serious cleanin now

These are all great comments guys!

I've added a few options to the "4/Door".. shaved and such.

This is a great list. trying to find pictures for all of this stuff.

Any hood options for the Mk2 that im unaware of?

DOes anyone have a picture of an MK2 WITHOUT a front bumper at all?

Also: How would you suggest I fix the 2-door option? Move the window back further?

This is something that i've considered, and something that I can definitely do, as well as "rake", but it's not exactly a highly request feature so I left it out for now in leu of getting other pictures into the system...

All you need to do is erase the extra line in the passenger's side rear window.
