Am I stupid for paying retail for a 2012 Bianchi Pista from my LBS? I did the vintage Craigslist bike thing last summer and it was a headache start to finish, so I'm looking for something new and with a warranty. Will be riding single speed and not fixed gear FWIW.

Not my bike but can someone tell me what is "wrong" with the geometry?

you're gonna have to be more specific. did someone say the geometry is wrong? do you think it's wrong?
it's an old road bike, so it has a more relaxed geometry than a track bike. the chain stays are longer, the seat tube and head tube angle are more relaxed. it would be all wrong if you wanted to race on the velodrome, but looks perfect if you are looking for a way to get around town!

Someone on Velodome commented that the geometry "sucked" and the more I look at it, the more I agree. I just bought the same frame (I'm a sucker for late-80's Peugeot's, don't ask why) but it turns out it's a lower end model (which would explain the geometry).
And on that note, if anyone has a line on a mid to high-end late 80's Peugeot frame (56cm), PLEASE let me know. I currently have an 88 Ventoux but it does not belong to me and unfortunately for me I have fallen head over heels in love with it so I want something comprable to replace it.
Thanks!

Had my new State bike dialed in for the Wolfpack Hustle Crash race in LA and the Red Hook Crit in NYC.

Brakes for the Crash race since it involved many hills on open roads. I ran drops and no brakes obviously for RHC, just late to post. I didn't agree with it brakeless at first but once the group split up it was a ton of fun. Super happy we made it out there to race it, the Brooklyn scene was amazing

sorry, wrong side of the bike I know. I picked this up for 50$ the other day along with a box full of parts including some nice olympiade drop bars

whered you make the trip from?
what did you place?

Phoenix, Az.
2nd at Wolfpack and at RH I took 7th and my teammate took 10th. There was a nasty crash at the last corner so we had to take different lines. I have never wanted a 5th place so badly! Prizes were rediculous.
We're planning to do the RHC in Milan as long as we keep pushing for it! Id do these races 100000% over road racing. Less stress and I can drink the night before a race! Haha

Whats your opinion on Mercier Kilo TT?
I was thinking of buying one for my wife this summer.
Thanks in advance.

there is really nothing on the market that is more bang for your buck than the Kilo TT. it is a good, solid bike at a dirt cheap price. most other comparable bikes would be at least $200 more, or even twice as much.

^ there is no reason to buy a road bike and try to squeeze 'cross tires on it when what you really want is a 'cross bike. just get the motobecane. why is it even a question?

I have a Kilo WT which is very similar to that windsor and can fit 700x42c's PLUS I raced it in a few cross races. Bottom line, it's less than ideal. The brakes are the big weakness when racing cross. Once those long reach road calipers get packed with mud/dirt, they pretty much stop working. Do yourself a favor and get the Motobecane Cross Bike if you're at all interested in racing.![]()

Thank you for the information, I am not going to race I just want a single speed bike that I can commute on the road and light trail use.

I think a 54 but should have gotten a 52

every time you squeeze your brake levers means repainting your rims![]()
