Hey guys, Im looking for some solutions for the battery relocation left overs.

Those that relocated the battery, how many of you have re routed the fuse box as well. Ive been looking up at some threads, and many people leave that in the bay, which looks like poo. A lot of clutter left over there

I am looking for something cleaner than this.

as well, what gauge are all those wires?

I think those are mattig cup mirrors. A guy was selling a set last week in the classifieds for like $250.

I don't have personal exp yet with this, but I think you can either just lengthen the wires and tuck it somewhere (fender, framerail) or you might be able to change out the fuse box for a better designed one that is hidden. That has been my plan for a while, I just haven't done it yet.

maybe i missed it earlier in this thread, but what i was wondering is what kind of filler are you guys using once you sand and grind down the rough areas in the bay. is it just fiberglass? or some kind of filler putty. bondo is out of the question since we all kno how great that stuff is, but what should i be using?

Use a polyester filler. I use all evercoat products for filler. I was worried about heat in my bay, but I've yet to see any problems.

I was under the impression that the SAI makes the car pass smog. Without it, the car might not pass smog, i think. I have a blockoff plate (for the 1.8T), but I just put on a new combi-valve so I'm reluctant to delete the whole system if not needed, I'd rather relocate it if it cant pass smog without it.

Travy will never do it because it's to far from his ghey OEM+ theme. And we all now how fast Winslow works

....And I have a couple of questions on placement for the fluid bottles.

For example, to remove the PCV, I would need a Oil Catch Can with a breather. But where can I hide the thing?

Next, power steering reservoir, I think I can reuse the old box, but what are the ideal placement to hide it?

    Bump!

move the resevoir behind the dash. Honestly, I don't know if it's possible. But I know of plenty of MKIIs that moved it there. BTW.....Real MEN don't need no power steering

I love engine bays like that, but it seems like a real lot of technical work, which i know nothing about

Actually, I was thinking of using the MK5 stuff. They don't require any fluid, it's all electrical. The down side, since it electrical, you can't feel the road any more.

If I had a different FMIC then I would have more room to hide the tank in the bumper area.

Did this to my MK2 and scirocco(power steering delete)steering was much more responsive doing this not to mention weight savings but it made parallel parking a p.i.t.a Both the scirocco's and MK2's were offered from the factory with manual racks so doing the swap was a cinch. I highly doubt if VW had a manual steering option for the MK4 so getting a manual rack would be impossible unless you got someone to custom make one for you $$$. Best bet is to relocate the bottle.
