What is the difference between Direct Port Programming and an ECU Upgrade? Both cost/labor wise and performance/feature wise. I'm a bit lost seeing all this stuff for the first time.

Performance gains are the same if its the same ECU file, AKA chip. Before the DPP or flashloading were available, the ECU had to be removed opened and the chip or chip's had to soldered or placed into said ECU. Now this can be done via the OBD2 port in most 2000 and up models without ecu removal. We don't charge for installation of New Files.

Sorry,APR does not make a free trial version for the 12v.They only make a free trial version for the 24v.

The 2000 Passat is a solder in type and does not have a trial. Seems like the Passat 01 and up can only be be done.
