Recently I got a MIM Telecaster that I love. I don't even play my Rickenbackers anymore (selling my 330 tomorrow!). It's Agave Blue and really has the sound I've been looking for. These guitars have such good value, it's crazy. I bought the Telecaster from a guy on craigslist for $350 with a hardcase!

Here is a photo of it in action, from our Halloween show (the photo is from my friend, Stef)

Close! Kawai K3 - also from the era where the key-action (for a synth) was simply a beautiful thing - great feeling aftertouch, too (but not polyphonic aftertouch). It's casing is also solid metal. It's one heavy beast (but nothing like the korg DSS-1 - remember that thing?it was like a giant table).

I actually felt like listening to it yesterday (which is why the headphones are plugged in) - the pads on it are nice. All 6 notes of it

Ah, yeah! The pitch bend area is too narrow for a DX...
Never heard of the K3, I'll have to check that out sometime...

I love the synth action on my DX7.

Adonis 3 piece consisting of Keller Maple shells
22x18, 12x9, 16x14 sanded, stained, and poly'd by my father and myself about 7 years ago... still holding up nicely
14x5 pearl free-floater using maple shell from Precision Drum Co out out NY, again sanded, stained and poly'd to match drums.
    Sabian HHX hi-hats
    A Custom 18" crash
    Zildjian 17" crash
    A ping 20" ride
    DW 5000 single pedal
    assorted hardware
    Roc'nSoc thrown

I have 3 others but this one is my baby

Oops, just noticed that I have my 13" Gretsch snare in the pic

4001s sure look good. But that is about it.

You don't see many big acts playing them. Off the top of my head I can think of the bassist for The Hives and Lou Barlow or Dinosaur Jr. And didn't Giddy Lee play one at one point? Anyway, Lou Barlow's 4001 got stolen in 2006 and it was thought to be a mainstay of the Dino sound. He switched to a P=bass because he claims every other 4001 sounds like crap. He hopes to one day have a 4001 with a p bass pickup.

yeah, they used them but they are not predominantly known for them. I mean I have three vary different electric guitars but if I ever became some body I probably would only use one touring and the others I would use for recording where I need them,

I meen Geddy Lee used a Fender, Paul McCartney used a Hofner mainly, John Etwistle used Thunderbird/Fender hybrids a lot, and I can't remember what the others used off the top of my head but I don't think many used the 4001 as their main axe.

I mean I own a Fender Jaguar which was not the main guitar of many people, but lots of people used those at one point too.

just got this edwards les paul copy
blackheart handsome devil with a tubejuice attenuator in the back
    english muffn
    crunch box
    memory boy
    passive attenuator

dont really use the effects that much since i got the attenuator

english muffn sounds nice and charasmatic though. like an ac30 thats caught fire.
memory boy is too weird for me
    crunch box is boring
passive attenuator is basically your volume control on the guitar on a pedal...kinda pointless

I think it depends on the tone you're going for. If you run a 4001 through the "bright" channel on a bass amp, I've heard some pretty killer tones out of one. Last weekend I mixed an old school punk band (The Action) and the bassist ran his 4001 through a nice vintage hiwatt half-stack with a touch of distortion and it sounded killer.

    Nice!!!

    My current set up

edit...this pic actually was before the '99 got the hardware upgrade.

Since the '87 and the Squier has been posted, I'll just update on the '99 MIM in the middle. It's midnight wine, has a Schaller Lite weight tuners and Gotoh 201 bridge. I went back to Hartke cabs - XL series, 210 & 115.

Yup. the prophecy and k3 are gone (I found I didnt use them much), but the juno-106 and monopoly are keepers.

next up: probably a used triton LE to use as a controller and a "jack of all trades but not great at anyhting" incase i have to rush out and fill in at a gig.

most of my stuff is ITB or recorded live source.

with all that said, i WILL miss the Urei LA-4 black face that I traded to get this thing.

Nice! I've got a smallish studio myself, with some old keys and a few newer ones.
Nothing truly "analog", but a couple hybrids, etc.

Keys/Midi: Korg OASYS 76, Korg Triton Pro 76, E-MU Planet Earth Module, Korg X3-R, Korg ESX-1, Ensoniq Mirage Rack, Siel DK-80, etc.

Sound: Alesis MultiMix 16 USB 2.0, Echo AudioFire2, Electrix Warp Factory, TC-Helicon VoiceTone "Correct" and "Create", Alesis MicroVerb 4, DigiTech MIDI Vocalist, AKG Perception 220 Mic, AudioTechnica 1000H "Blue" Mic, M-Audio BX5a Monitors, etc.

Other assorted stuff...The MultiMix doesn't work with the newish Vista machine so I was using the Echo until Vista also quit working with Cubase (LE4). Stuck now until I can get into Win7 and get something going again. All PC-based recording.

not sure if this is 'gear' - but a place to work seems apt.

almost finished building my basement control room + live room.

it's taken me forever, but it seems it might be ready to populate in about a month!

Have a question about some gear I'm thinking about picking up. I found a Kramer package on craigslist, wondering if it is a good deal for a beginner:

    http://hartford.craigslist.org/msg/1563734894.html

$120 for everything guitar, and, cord...

    Or this Peavey Telecaster:

    http://hartford.craigslist.org/msg/1570710942.html

And I'd have to find an amp.

Right now I have an epiphone acoustic that looks just like this with a dark red finish on the body that looks awesome.

    Thanks, Don.
