Considering USC's "big" win was a relatively close game against a pretty crappy Syracuse team, I think it's tough to call USC the second best team in the country. I'm confident that LSU, FSU, Georgia, South Carolina, etc. would destroy them.

I don't agree with the discrepancy between USC and Stanford either, but I can't stand seeing this statement. Were they ever the #2? Really?Originally Posted by bubbagti
Rankings are purely speculative at the beginning of the year and get better refined as the season goes along. If you're going to be comparing, use the most recent polls. They're more accurate and telling (unless say a team dropped some games and in rank because of key injuries).

I just don't get what's going on in the PAC-12 this year. Either conference is better as a whole, or this is BIG 10 bad. If the conference is going to have a big down year, I feel bad for Oregon. No way they play for a NCG over an undefeated BIG-12 or ACC team. If the PAC-12 is bad, what win can Oregon point at when the strength of schedule debate begins?

At least USC is putting it together and starting to pummel Utah.
#16595
The conference is better as a whole but look at it like the mid '00s when USC was way ahead of the rest of the conference and they would typically role the competition. That is what Oregon is/could be this year. OSU could be undefeated going in to Civil War and ASU might be a top 20 ranked team when they play. Actually at the start of the year it looked like Oregon might only play 2 ranked teams (at the time of the game) and now it will probably turn out to be 6 teams (UA, UW, ASU, USC, Stan, OSU). The difference being USC had much better OOC games those years whereas Oregon doesn't so you're right, an undefeated Big 12 team would most likely jump them. ACC though, I don't think it's happening. I mean that conf. is still pretty abysmal and the only thing FSU could have going for it if they go undefeated would be the UF win @ the end of the season.

i think the Big 12 is getting the hype the B1G used to get. Not a bad thing since the B1G is bad. The best team in the conference is on probation (and in my opinion would probably win the B1G this year if not for the suspension).
If Oregon runs the table - i see them getting a shot over FSU. ACC is a weaker conference and I do not think anyone survives the big 12 unbeaten.
Now if Oregon chokes at some point then who knows. I just hope there is not a repeat of last year with LSU and Alabama

Yeah, tOSU is definitely the strongest team, in a down year for the B1G. As for the Big 12, if WVU, UT, or KSU ran the table (I don't think it will happen) it would be very difficult to make a good case for Oregon's schedule over any of theirs. Like I said, Oregon could play 6 ranked teams, but they would be like 15-25 teams and only ranked at the time of the game, not at the end of the season, whereas I can any of the 3 Big 12 teams playing 4-6 ranked teams and having at least 3 be higher ranked than the Pac-12 teams, but I agree it isn't likely for the Big 12 teams.
What Oregon really needs is USC to win all their games except @ home to the Ducks and OSU to go undefeated until Civil War. That would be to Top 10 road wins and conf. championship game. A lot of IFs with a lot of the season left, so as a fan I'm definitely not looking ahead.
On a somewhat different note, I only caught a few seconds of the Nick Saban spread offenses quote but it just reinforced that I really don't like the guy. He's a great coach but I don't respect him.

Really? I don't respect him because he's a sleazy bafoon who cries when he doesn't get his way and slips out the back door after overstating that 'he is the coach of X team.' I'm surprised him and Bobby Petrino aren't bestest buddies.
Is he all about player safety? Maybe. Does it seem like he's pissed that his team gave up two touchdowns to a no-huddle Ole Miss offense? That seems much more likely.![]()

You guys will see what I've been saying all year. Mettenburger looks like a true freshman QB, not a transfer QB with JC and SEC experience. I still think the game comes down to who has better running game. I still think Florida lives and dies by Gillislee.

Oh, I saw that. I wasn't questioning your reasons for not respecting him. I sorta just started to vent my own reasons for not respecting him. Sorry if that came across as pushy.
He doesn't have any SEC starting experience. He was at best a second string at Georgia before he thought drinking away his starting chances was a good idea. I don't actually think I ever saw him on the field.
Driskel probably does JUST enough that Florida doesn't live or die by Gillislee. The problem is that Gillislee is really, really good right now.![]()

In other news, the 117th defense in the nation, and Auburn is midway thru the third quarter with 6 given up sacks and a grand total of zero points. That said, Arkansas only has 10 points. Just how awful could these two teams really be?!![]()

go gators! D was great all game, O was less then stellar (we must be a team of 2nd half adjustments this year... seems the team was too eager to play after the bye week)

Undisceplined. Sloppy. Pathetic. Horrid.
Mike Bobo is absolute trash as an O Coordinator when it comes to adjustment. Did he not realize that South Carolina has two of the best pass rush players in the country? That Georgia's O line would have problems against them? AND THAT IF IT'S STILL A ****ING PROBLEM, YOU DON'T KEEP RUNNING BACKFIELD HANDOFFS TO TRY AND BEAT THEM AROUND THE EDGE!?! GOD.
Worthless. ****ing worthless.
