What do I want for a daily driver... Fix up GLI or build a vr Caddy. I have ADD when it comes to projects I guess. But caddy would be perfect for my mountain biking.

I don't love all mk5's... I just think the mk5 GTi is way more badass than anything to come out post mk2. I think it would be a fun DD.

caddy = probably the fastest appreciating(dollar wise) VW on the market now.
Good luck finding one cheap. As for a VR. VR into a mk1 is by far the hardest swap. Impossible without the help of Nate. You have two choices for a VR, weld in all three VR mounts to the body or weld in a VR car subframe. Since the mk1 has no front subframe...it makes the VR a PITA swap.

      Amber and Tiffany:
Are either of you off on Friday and would you be willing to watch Madison for me if you are? Her daycare is closed for Good Friday. Just let me know...Thanks

I passed the word along to Tiff, she said she can do it. Give her a call and let her know what hours you need her for.

Tiff - we fortunately lucked out and will have family watching Madison on Friday. Thanks for being there though! Leslie will call you.

I don't think anyone has a full on version yet... I am going to own one soon though. I am for sure buying one before I get back.

yup...I only have the freebie version. I don't even know if I could link up to your car being a 2008 though. Don't mk5's have a CANBUS line or something. My VAG-COM shiz is only for k-line OBD.

I'm probably going to buy the full up version when I get back, just so I can help people out.

Tiff/Andrew - cabby is ready for pick up. The seal on the speedo hole looks good but there is a small bent piece of metal that might not allow for a perfect seal. The burning smell is oil leaking onto the header. The fix would be to do a valvecover gasket. Also..I drilled a small hole in the rear of the pan on the driver side to let all the water out. After a few days with the window down it's about dry.
I also lowered the idle to 900 and tightened up the clutch a little.

That's how we did it back home..my buddy Danny would scan my car and I would buy him dinner, coffee, etc. It pays for itself. I was going to throw Lee a 10 spot for scanning my car when he offered.
Jason, thanks a TON man. For a second I thought you meant a hole in the oil pan... I was kinda concerned. Tiff is going to get that exhaust put on in a couple weeks, I've got a new O2 sensor in the mail for it too. That idle likes to creep back up on it's own... I have adjusted it a couple times already. Didn't they have "bird ****" on them from the factory to keep them from moving? If you want to cruise the town though in the drop top before she picks it up feel free - just keep your mudflap down...
Nate says no for now on the wheels...
