In car news saw a Delorean on Bemiss. I love that car. I was pretty far away from it and I was like that would be pretty cool if that was a delorean. Got closer and holy crap it is a delorean.

found on jalopnik...dude should do this:

went to court today. I would like to thank the Lowdnes County Prosecutor who let me go with a warning! They keep my $500 for court cost but no points or anything on the license and that was 28mph OVER!!!

    I'm stoked.

oh yeah...I reserved a hotel at Daytona beach for Winterjam h20. I'll be trailing the rabbit 16vT down there Anyone thinking of going???

Someone asked at that toy drive car show back in December if the Rocco was a Delorean! I just had to LAUGH!

We will be heading down. Bringing the RV towing the Bus and Mike wants to bring the Rocco. Still got some work to do on it though.
If you are going Jason, need to register. You get lots of goodies and if you do the judging portion you will be inside the building. I know you haven't registered, cause I am in charge of that!

Oh I just got back from SNOWY NC today! We had the VW indoor show on Friday only and sent everyone home. It started snowing on Friday at 5pm and didn't stop until maybe midday Saturday! I will have to show you guys some pics. Also, got picked up at the ATL airport and got to drive my bus home with its new interior! Stopped by the Dyno in Warner Robins that we are having our Dyno Day at in MARCH. It isn't as nice as the one we have been using that last 5 years, but hey, we are there to have some FUN!

Kathy what gear do the do the pull in? 3rd gear would be decent for me because my clutch doesn't slip in that gear...yet. 2nd gear is worthless!

    If I'm near 300whp I'm f'n STOKED.

Also...how many mk1's are registered? How are they doing the class break down.

    Will register soon.

I cant make winterjam, but I hope to have everything done on my car for dyno day in march to see what I am running. Next year, I pretty much plan on being done with big modifications on the jetta and start hitting all the shows.

    Okay. I need some help.

My headlamps have officially become worthless. It's completely dangerous to drive at night on these colorado roads even with brand Sylvania Silverstar headlights...

They're absolute garbage and I don't have the know how to take them apart and fix them but new headlamps are like 320 or so on BFI...and when I search in the classifieds i'm not really sure what i'm looking for???

So jason since I haven't asked a question in a while these don't count against me.

    What should I do
What type of headlamps do I need
    Where should I get them
Once I get them how should I get them installed
What type of headlights should i use...

Jason, one final question, do you have the prowess to make an exhaust?

no. reason. because the aftermarket already makes whatever exhaust you want. It wouldn't be worth my time to make you one because I would have to give you a bro discount. Just pay and get one. Best thing to do is buy a used one. I mean in reality...it's just pipe...doesn't really go bad.

New rims for the restored rabbit will be here Friday!!!

Jetta will most likely sell tonight but if not...later this week.

I mean like an entire system. So I don't have to drop 9 hundy on a 3 TB Exhaust from 42DD.

I guess you really tell the guys whatever you want them to pull in.
I went by the Dyno on the way home from Atl yesturday and isn't no fancy place, but hey, we will still have fun!
Yes Watercooled are allowed on the Dyno! Currently have 2 Aircooled registered.

As for how many MK1s at at Dubjam, well, I haven't worked on what has come in, since I just got my show done. So will do that this week.

We are NOT going to get that Wagen, really didn't need to do that anyhow. Just going to fix the 1.8T, sometime. Got my bus back yesturday and man did I miss it!

Negative sir, I am on leave until the 7th. My girl Kayla flew into Tampa today.

Just happened to be in the office at the right time today - I was the first to volunteer to go to D-M on the 15th for an MRT. I am 99% confident I scored this trip since I didn't get to go to Colorado last month due to being scheduled for a class.

My suspension should be here tomorrow.... to be installed on Monday. I'm pretty stoked about that.

I've decided that Nate is the only person who ever helps me on this thread. Unless I call or facebook Jason lol.

Does it matter what type of Oil Filter you use for your dub? Advanced has a deal right now for Mobil 1 Oil/Filter, 5 quarts, for 25 bucks after my military discount.

I just figured out how to tether my laptop to my Droid without paying Verizon the extra $30/month. I have 3G on my laptop now that speed tested @ 2Mbps

Brandon, go to the dealership and get the bigger Passat filter. You can hold 5 quarts with it.

Usually advance won't give you the military discount on top of a discount like that.

But yes...what you listed is the combo I run on all my 1.8t's.

Andrew the passat filter thing is good but really pertains the longitudinal motors that suffered from sludge. Passat's/A4's used the regular filter like the B/G/J 1.8t but when they started sludging...the engineers at VW went to the larger filter.

Long story short Brandon....use mobil one, the free filter they give you and change your oil about every 5K.

Recently edmunds ran a story where a Pontiac g8 with full synthetic went 13K on an oil change. After analysising the oil...the experts said it had enough life to go 1000 more miles!

The old 3K/3M myth to change your oil is going extinct like dinosaurs and the oil we got from em

Yea I read through a ton of threads on oil on the MkIV forum and some people like like yea 3k miles for every change...and alot of people said that's retarded because of the quality of synthetics you can go thousands more... a few people said they regularly go 7k, i'm currently just shy of 6k so i'm doing my change friday night.

Is the wastegate controlled electonically or by vacuum? I think something is wrong with it or the actuator.

    Vacuum.

I use the passat 1.8t for the larger oil capacity and thus better cooling. May not be necasary at all but the nerd in me thinks so.

Also cant use military discount on oil.

What? I am going with you? What about Leslie, Lonnie and all the kids!
Oh, as I looked through the registrations, doesn't look like there are any MK1s so far. Everyone will do it day of show, but so you do realize, that once you are in the building(since it is indoors) you will not be able to leave until like 9pm that night. They are supposed to have professional judges at this event.

That is cool on the Jetta and it looks good too! You did an awesome job!

The fam and I will be at the Super 8. It was like 60 bucks for one night! Dirt cheap and they have a place to park my trailer.

So yeah...I'm trailering the GTI down there Sat AM and leaving Sunday AM.

so, are you going to come and check out the Volksjamboree on Sunday before going home? You can do the exhibition parking and have a good spot and can leave when you need to.

Sunday is a BIG Day as well.

Kathy - I thought it would be nice to do an indoor setup since the Rabbit GTI 16vT is little more "showy."

As for leaving whenever...I'm not worried. We are 2 mins via car and 8 mins via walking from the hotel. Leslie/kids and come and go as she pleases. I will probably talk my ass off which I LOVE to do at shows.

    So what do you think...indoor?

But yeah...we'll check out some things Sunday before jetting.

Ahhh that is cool. Yeah nice to be close to the motel, so Leslie can come and go when she wants and you know that Madison can hang out with us too, so her and Luci can play. I will be up early that Morning, since I got to be at the Bus show before everyone else and get all the Pre-registered in. Lonnie has got to find a way there so he don't have to get up so early.
Car show set up for the Indoor show starts at 12-2, and I will have to be over there for that too, to get you guys in. I do recommend doing the Competition one, which will be all the ones inside. All exhibition ones will be outside.

Yes we ALL know you like to TALK!

After the Bus show we are going to Navigational Rally, and that ends back at the Dubjam and we park around the place and stay until we are ready to go.
    Should be a FUN weekend!

Jason or whomever would like to give me advice...

Tomorrow i'm thinking about taking off the bumper to my car and taking out the headlamps, and tossing them in the oven to heat them up, if I fail miserably... well i'll be ordering new headlamps, but on the slim chance I succeed, what should I do to clean the inside of the lamps? Will windex simply clean the white stuff out or am I going to need something special?

Yea I was reading the joey mod to get a feel for how to do it.

apparently you just preheat to 170-200...toss them in on a tray for like 30-90 seconds...I'll be doing 30 seconds at a time to make sure they don't melt.
