    I'm doin the trans myself!

After calling VW again to get an exact quote...they want $500 to drop the tranny pan, install a new filter and refill.

    Suck my ass VW.

New filter/gasket/o-ring kit from Arizona Autohaus - $30
    New oil - $30
    Total for me $60.

Seriously...who the **** pays these prices???

NO KIDDING! They quoted me $3800 for a rebuilt 01M automatic...Mine is not bad at all yet though, so I told them what I thought about it

Yeah I'm definitely not getting my tranny flushed. EVERYWHERE I've read said that's a no-no.

I just want to drop the pan and check magnets, replace the filter and refill.

Here's an AWESOME link on Passat trannies which has good overall auto trans info:

Anyone else down for a little gtg tonight... then cruise to autozone. Sonic maybe, unless someone knows of a local business that would be a cooler hangout for us?

Modest Mouse (and R.E.M. which we probably will not be staying for.) Is on Saturday night. My friend is driving in from Biloxi and we're going to cruise up there for the show.

Lastnight was pretty cool, the weekend after next I hope we can make another large showing.

The Rocco has decided to run great all of the sudden and the new oil filter flange gasket will be here hopefully on Wednesday.

I hope you get it Robin. It would be nice to keep it local since there are already so few older dubs as it is.

    Talk to Andrew...

actually we've been discussing it's demise and I kinda had hoped it would go to someone who would like it.

In Passat news. I picked up the rotors from the autohobby shop today. Can't be $13 for two 288mm front rotors to get resurfaced. Hopefully the new Mintex pads work okay.

The Passat will be back on the ground in a few days and ready for daily driver status!

Rob, If it goes anywhere it'll be to you. I am trying to save some money to move into this new house and another car isn't quite in the budget yet unless it's a deal I can't refuse. I do enjoy the car when it's running right... but I still love my mk2's like Nate loves his Corrado's.

I ordered the new "oil filter flange gasket" for it sunday... Should be here by thursday I hope. It's amazing what you can find when you have the right nomenclature. $1.93.

It's insane how many people have been IM'ing me for parts, It would be so easy to part it out.

I spotted a dark green (maybe black, I was a bit far from it) Corrado on base today, and the silver and the red R32's and a lowered silver mk4 Jetta.

yeah it would be insanely easy to part it but I'd hate to see that happen. Robin if you do end up getting it...just like I told Andrew...I have plenty of parts if you ever need them.

I have oil seal gaskets...I'm just not taking apart complete motors to get to them

Besides...I've never seen one leak. Though I have seen PLENTY of oil sending units leak.

^miss us locals or something Jason?

I got a nod today from a lowered white mk5 GTI - I don't think he was military.

I just found the oil leak in the Scirocco to be... DUN DUN DUNNNNN! one of the copper gaskets in on the oil temp switch. WTF.

Damn Nate - I coulda sworn you were on days. I got the CEL cleared by unplugging the battery. I think it's just the SAI code anyway.

If you have anytime this weekend Nate I'd like to scan if possible and see what comes up if anything. Leslie starts daily driving it today
