Advanced and autozone will scan your car for free.

Also check engine light is normal operation on VWs.

I know it's normal to have Christmas year round on your dash. But I don't really like it personally.

Also Jason found a 84 rabbit with the 1.8 motor rebuilt and a **** ton of new parts dude is asking for 1500. May have to scoop it up!!

Sam, If you don't like it, get an older vw w/o obd. Serious, in my mk4 unless CEL was flashing, It was of zero concearn to me. The older vw wiring gets, the more finicky they are. I have had 2 mk4's and both were fine for the first 20k or so, then they would pop cels over dumb stuff.

My favorite one from the 24v, "coolant system malfunction, engine temp too low"..

For your viewing pleasure. I was in complete disbelief when I saw it was the guy who sang so many toy story songs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NvgLkuEtkA nearly pissed myself

Dude, looks sick. Did it take long to build?

I totally understand why people love auto x. I rode in that black fox body and it changed my life.

Take a car that runs 11.3 in the quarter. Widen the crap out of it. Throw a sick suspension on it and some 305's all the way around, then drive the socks out of it. I literally felt the seat bracket sway as the car stuck through some really tight corners. Taken at high speeds. I am hooked. Its going to be rwd for me when I get back. Not sure what kind of car yet. CTS-V? Who knows

It's a piece of copper pipe. At first glance it looks like a paper towel tube.

So, the tranny in the Golf has been making some noises. Jason suggested that we check the tranny fluid, well it was low but that is because it is leaking from somewhere! Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So I guess we will be looking for another tranny or seeing about getting one rebuilt? What are y'alls suggestions? This Golf is in great shape and the engine is strong, just need to figure out this tranny so I can be sure it will be good for my next event in a month in NC.

Is it an auto Kathy? I have no advice, just curious.

Well, I haven't done a damn thing to anything that I own because of the back situation.

I have a CT scan tomorrow. Surgery after Mexico in May. Cortizone shots prior to trip and tequila shots during the trip should keep the pain level to a bearable level!!
I did drop the Jetta wagon off at the high school in Tifton today. We have a dual enrollment program with them and the instructor is a great mechanic and nice guy.
They are installing the Koni adjustable sport struts and shocks along with Eibach lowering springs. Plus mounting and balancing the new tires I got from Kathy and LJ on the rims I got from Nate. I need to get it aligned after that. Any suggestions on who to use for that?

Kathy - 020 transmission are EASY to work on. They only leak from 3 different places and ALL are quick to fix without pulling the trans. It's either leaking at the throwbearing cover(doubt it) or most likely the seals for the output flanges on the final drive. They are just like any other seal and go bad. Takes about 1 hr to fix and about 5 bucks in parts.

My advice - fix it and move on. it's an 020 transmission....easier than an aircooled trans BY FAR.

Dave - ONLY place I will let touch my cars for alignments is Valdosta Alignment. Old school but fairly priced and my alignments are PERFECT!!! No damn computers there.

Thanks Jason we will take a look at it and get wherever that is sealed. But it has internal noises in the transmission itself. Even after putting more fluid in it. 5th whines and when you down shift or put the clutch in to prepare to stop is when I hear the other.

Ummmmm Dave you know better then to think that LJ is going to have an auto in ANY VW we have!

Sorry to hear about your back!
That wagen is going to look good after you get those springs on!

5th gear while is caused when a transmission is driven that is low on fluid because it is starved unlike the other gears which get oil easier.

Your throw out bearing is probably trashed too.

Anyway...Leslie and I were playing around on the Honda tonight...

Werd roof rack looks great Matt, well Korea is nice. 3 square meals a day, gnarly hills to run up and down, and 24hr gym. Im sitting at work right now on cherokee forum/vortex and facebook. Oh and I think I drank some coffee today also So far its a nice break from the Moody Its only been a week and I already miss the corrado. Im taking some leave when I get back, like 4 weeks straight and finishing that car.

I am so ready to get back and start fabricating stuff. I have been building things for people like crazy, and schooling the people that work here on our job. I think its time for me to move on from this job.

On a car note, I hope you guys enjoy sowo. Thats seriously one of my favorite shows, mostly because of the people that roll there and the mountain cruise. If you guys see any Porsche 914, snap a few pics for me eh? Seriously looking into getting one then subie swapping it...

Finished my exhaust this evening and tackled that wretched shift linkage for good this time. Dropping it off to have the windows re -tinted tomorrow.

I love not driving my car for a few weeks and getting into it and just feeling that power, braking and handling. Makes it all seem worth it.
