If I was top team hiring a driver I would want someone who expressed this kinda confidence.. but i guess every statement can be looked at in a different light..

I agree. There is a VERY fine line between confidence and being cocky. This rides on that line.

And for the apology, this is the only print thing i found, and i personally dont consider it an apology.

    Hamilton apologises to Raikkonen

By Jonathan Noble and Pablo Elizalde Sunday, June 8th 2008, 18:17 GMT

Lewis Hamilton apologised to Kimi Raikkonen after a mistake by the Briton put both out of the Canadian Grand Prix.

Raikkonen stopped at the red light at the end of the pitlane on lap 20, but Hamilton drove into the back of the Ferrari and both men had to retire.

An unhappy Raikkonen spoke to Hamilton after the crash, pointing at the light.

Championship leader Hamilton said he had seen the red light when it was already too late.

"It wasn't a great stop. I saw the two guys in front battling in the pitlane and all of a sudden they stopped. I saw the red light but by the time I stopped it was too late," said Hamilton.

"It is a lot different if you crash into the wall and are angry, it is not like that. I apologise to Kimi if I cost him the race, but these sort of things happen. of course you cost him the race. You walked back to the pits together! And no, "these sort of things DONT happen". Imagine if this was Prost and Senna, They would have been fist fighting in the middle of the road.

"I would rather neither of us were out, we were so quick, I was in front. Next time."

The accident left BMW Sauber's Robert Kubica with a great chance of scoring his maiden Formula One victory.

Hellogirl, lay off it already. Posting in bold letters and/or all caps, it gets annoying. What are you so angry about? Why the hate on Kubica? Kubica is performing almost the same role that Lewis did last year, consistently finishing high in the points, he will be around to the end.

  4. 06-16-2008 05:12 PM #74
she hates on people who hate lewis but she in turn hates on kubica even harder.. pot/kettle kinda thing.

Hellogirl... do us all a favor and stop posting this kinda crap.

  5. 06-16-2008 05:56 PM #75
I been posting here long before you racist haters. Lewis is doing very well for his second year. Kubica only won because Lewis made a mistake not because of his driving abilities. Lewis out qualifted him and the rest. It's Lewis mistake not Kubica talent that give him his first win. Everyone said oh it was luck when Lewis won in Monaco. I been posting here long before any of you came here. As a famale Kubica is one ugly man.

Hate Kubica for being ugly, whatever... but don't say he doesn't have skill, his season is going very well, Aside from a DNF in the season opener, he has consistently scored points in every race thus far. I don't hate Lewis, in fact I was rooting for him last season, he seems like a very likeable person, and he has stated that Kubica is a friend of his, expressing concern for him last year at the Canadian Grand Prix where Robert had that huge accident. Funny that you are hating someone that your hero is friends with...

As for the race being handed to Kubica, I doubt that, anything can happen in F1, Kubica was in the best position to take the win after the pit accident, but it could have easily have been Heidfeld who took the win.

There is no guarantee that Lewis would have brought home the win either, both Kubica and Kimi got him at the pit stop. Who is to say that Kubica couldn't have fended them off for the rest of the day? Go back to Alonso holding off 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher for 13 laps to take the win at San Marino in 05, who could have predicted that? At the end of the day things happened the way they did.

I saw that earlier, IIRC she was at Monaco as his "Special Guest Friend" or something along those lines.

Since she's from Hawaii originally and comes here often with her "man of the month" maybe I'll catch him here if she stays with him for longer than a few months

Hammie ran a great race. I don't like how he seems to often push people off track while overtaking, but I can't say others sometimes don't do the same.

I was surprised he reeled everyone in and took it. Pit strategy wasn't looking so hot.

to Ron and Heikki for the most obvious team order pass in an era where team orders are forbidden.

But here's the "trick" was it Heikki or was it Ron.

Did any see the capture of him on the radio? And, even the commentators from the feed blew the whistle.

I tell you, I can't say Hamilton wouldn't have overtaken him, that was for sure. But, after that would have happened he would have have even harder duty to catch Massa and Piquet. Who by the way drove very well.

    But STILL..GWAAAN YOOT!!!!

Oh please. They weren't running 1 and 2. Hammy was the McLaren one who could have raced to the front. If Heikki tried to stay in front of Hammy, they would have finished 5th and 6th instead of 1st and 5th. This was good teamwork.

If the FIA wires aren't buzzing with protests by now, they should be. I like Hamilton and I look forward to watching his career, but he is soooooo much better than straight chopping Massa twice and then doing it again to Piquet. It was like watching Dale Earnhardt "intimidate" his way to the front. Hamilton is a better driver than that and we all know it. on the cheap moves.

Who gives a crap about "bad tactics" and "improper moves" ? It's a racing for God's sake! I want to see those kids race and wipe each other's faces with mud, then kick each other in the nuts, after the race is finished.

    Now, that's the entertainment!

I saw that too, it's too easy although my grandma would be more convincing acting out the orders to let him pass.

Exactly. LH simply forced each move.
he did not touch anyone's car's on any overtake.

Massa tried to block once Hamilton was alongside. he was lucky not to take them both out.

Piquet never stood a chance... This was by far Hamilton's best win.
we all lament wheel to wheel, forced overtaking and then we get it and worry that it is a little to rough and tumble.....

seriously. Massa really needs to learn how to deal with LH he seems to always come off worse.....
I have to say that while Heikki's allowing Lewis past was perfcetly understandable. it just reminded me of Barichello with Schumacher

Either way. Go Hamilton!. two stellar victories.

Yup...LH did what any racing driver would do, just disappointed that Massa was so awful at protecting his position.

Massa just looked pathetic against LH. Hekki's move immediately made me think he was making look THAT obvious.

Thanks, but I don't need a lesson on how it all works. I simply stated that it was blatant. I'm not bitching about what could or could not have happened. Team orders are forbidden, though we all know they happen, and McLaren has always said that they do not implement team orders - then you see something so obvious.

A win is a win boys!

Whether it's by an inch or by a mile.

    Okay, that was bad.

I think that after all the years of people saying there isn't enough overtaking in F1, suddenly, he claws back to win an impressive race and he is making "bad racing moves". Whatever. Senna took people out to preserve points leads. Schumacher raced dirty all the time. Just enjoy some agressive W2W action without all the complaining.

    Stan...

  29. 07-21-2008 08:53 AM #99
My point is Hamilton is better than that. He shouldn't have to resort to that kind of crap to make up for poor performance of the car or the team. No driver should.

  30. 07-21-2008 09:38 AM #100
Good thing HK let him pass because he had no pace, why compromise his teams points haul and hold up an obviously faster teammate, it's not like the old ferrari days when RB let MS by and they finished within a second of one another. If HK had the pace to hold off or run with LH, he certainly would have followed him up the field to a second place finish...

Stellar performance from LH, on his way for a WDC this year, and many more... this is just the beginning of a new reign in the sport imo.

  31. 07-21-2008 11:06 AM #101
At this point in the season Heiki is no longer in contention for the WDC, he is a distant six from Heidfeld. I think in all teams there comes a point where if one driver is now longer in contention for the Drivers Championship and the other is, then they have to play the role of 2nd driver.

You saw it last year with Massa who was mathematically eliminated by the time the last race showed up. He had incredible pace in that race, but if Kimi stood a chance of taking the crown, then Massa couldn't win. Heck you even saw it the year Michael Schumacher was injured and missed part of the season, when he came back, Irvine was in contention so Schuey helped the cause.

WTF was that ??? Piquet never had a chace??? that was arrogant imo... maybe if he had the car up to speed, he might of held him off... but anyway im happy for him, that strategy worked really well for renault... i hope there is more piquet on the podium

Piquet may have had a lot of luck with the safety car, but he had some magnificent laps at the end of the race. His car was no match for LH...then again no other car was either. The simple fact that Massa/Ferrari couldn't catch him says a lot too. He was also setting personal best laps all the way to the flag. He stood up to the pressure and brought home 2nd place.

As far as Mclaren team orders, I think it's just implicitly understood that LH is the #1 driver. I think it's funny anyone would think otherwise. In the last race, I couldn't believe how easily Hamilton got by Heikki, it was like Heikki just let him by. I think they will keep Heikki around for a while at Mclaren because he keeps his mouth shut, has good speed, and doesn't mind being #2.
