The way that I do it, I have a plug coming out of the iPod into the aux jack in the glove box and I control all of the songs and everything through the iPod.Basically I'm controlling my music through the iPod, listening it through the car speakers.

I was wondering if I'm correct on this. If bought a MP3 player and plug it into the aux plug would I need to search tiltle songs on the player or would it show up on my radio/cd player?

I have the aux plug, but when I have it plugged in nothing happens. Am I supposed to have an 'aux' button on my stereo? Or is there something I'm unaware of here?

The Aux input is an option after the CD button is selected. ( at least on the NAV Radio it is)

THANK YOU for this thread. I've been trying to figure out how to use the AUX function of the radio since there is no mention (that I can find) in the voluminous user's manual of the car.

The AUX cable is for audio only.. no way it can some how send that info to the head unit. You can even plug in a old walkman if you like.. or laptop.. or whatever takes the 3.5mm plug.
As for the aux, yeah some units have a aux (mine does) if not press CD button twice.

My dad has an 08 Passat wagon and was asking me (over the phone) to locate the aux input for him. I tried to describe where it is in the back of the glovebox of my GTI, but he insisted he couldn't find it. Can anyone describe where exactly the input jack is located? A quick picture that I could email him would be even better.

The panel is colored white. It's to the driver's side of the glovebox, on the top. You will have to have your plug pointing up when plugging in audio devices. Hope this helps.

Mine had a bright orange sticker that said AUX. Make sure he has one.. if he has a light in the glove compartment then he doesnt have a AUX.
