i guess we all need to know, where did you get it and how much.and who do I need to talk to to get one?

Here it is in its grand glory. The US-Spec RNS-510 installed in my 2005.5 Jetta TDI.
Sirius SAT radio is built into the head unit and fully operational. The main screen gives the ability to store any mix of AM/FM/SAT.
The SD Card Reader displays MP3 tags. Thus far I have tested it with WMA and MP3 files on a 2GB SD Card.
The MFD displays the tag info from the SD Card reader and the HDD.
Provisions exist in the setup menu for HD radio along with Sirius.
There are also provisions for the Voice tagging of MP3 files along with Navigation destinations and Phone book entries.
To my knowledge this is the only operational RNS-510 in North America outside of those owned by VWOA, Siemens and Navteq.
This is just a taste of things to come. There is a lot more lurking in the garage of SVTWEB........

and you also said Siruis is build into the HU. Then where do you run the antenna wire? Is the wire from shark fin long enough to reach the HU?
#6
I imagine so since that's also the antenna for the GPS.Does this have Bluetooth built in as well? Or does that still require additional hardware? Now that someone has a US spec one I can finally ask. The fact that it has phone book stuff is promising.
#7
The biggest question is do you have a set of maps that work in the US? Also, what about the bluetooth?
#8
how is the sound quality compared to stock headunit?

What he said.
We don't even get Navigation in Canada so that would be a nice retrofit period.

I will reply later with all the info on the installation, maps, and other interesting facts as soon as i finish answering the 100+ IM's from everyone...And why would someone from China want to know it it would work over there?

92K miles, huh? Too bad you won't be in your car long enough to enjoy that sweet headunit....LOL!CONGRATS! That is one sweet head unit and makes me wish I had hung on to my 2005.5 Jetta just for that....love it!
Now if I could just retrofit that into my Nissan Frontier...hmmm - LOL!

People who buy TDIs usually have a reason to. Also, they last forever, 92k is nothing.

Does it have the stupid "Accept" screen? Can you use the MFSW buttons to jump to the next preset as opposed to seeking to the next station?
