I had two f/1.8 and now I have a f/1.4, I enjoy it much too, faster quieter focusing and colors pop more, but the nifty fifty still is the most bang for the buck Canon lens !

Nice shots, but you need to clean your camera/lense. You have dust showing up!

oh completely! I've never had so much fun or such great results with $100 with any of my other gear. a close second is my multi-coated polarizer, like $110, but it only gets used once in a blue moon.

This lense is definitely my next camera purchaseI love it. I've had my friends' 50mm for the past few weeks to play with

if you're talking about my shot....it's not oversaturated...that's just his neons! the flash hitting him also brings out the color...

I'm not a huge fan of the focal length on an APS-C camera myself.. but the lens is good none-the-less..f/4
f/4
f/3.2
f/6.3
with the 1.4x TC.. f/1.8

So what's the general thought? Is the 1.4 worth the money over the 1.8? Is it worth the price difference?I ask because the 50mm is going to be my next lens. I absolutely love the pictures these lenses produce.

I like my 50mm. I'm honestly tempted to pick up an 85mm prime to add to my bag as well - pretty much solely for portrait use. This was just screwing around with the 50, but I kind of like the shot anyway.
make shiny.
If crazy paid the bills.. I'd be freaking rich.
