    still trying to decided if i shld go for the 1.8, which i can pretty much get now, or save up for the 1.4

    oh and page 5 is mine

    You can't go wrong with either one.. To me extra 200.00 USD was worth it for the 1.4. It provides a little bit better bokeh, quieter operation and a better build construction.

    But if you want a cheap lens that you plan to take care of and just want it for random shots, then the 1.8 is perfect.

    yeah well here in south africa its R999 (south africa rands) for the 1.8, and R3500 for the 1.4, so its quite a big price difference for us

    3500 ZAR is about 500 USD. You can get it for almost half of that here.

    yeah but like most things we bring in, after shipping and tax its double the price. maybe i should send some cash over next time one of my buddies go to the sates and ask him to bring it back for me

    Ok here are 3 shots I did w/ the 50mm. I basically suck overall at photography so please go easy on me. And I was just messing with different borders in PS, so you can ignore them too if you don't like them.

    I wanted to get the 1.4, but I'm budgeting myself. Sucks that I won't get the lens until Monday because my sister's birthday is tomorrow; that would've been a great opportunity to test it out.
