I got it all pulled off and the timing belt lost all the teeth by the crank. I have a new timing belt kit and just received new valves and head gasket kit. So I'm just going to go ahead and replace those.

As if Carlisle wasnt already badass....this has just been announced!! It was tough to keep this under wraps

I simply cannot wait for this event, especially this year. Its been very hectic with organizing everything (Morgan couldnt help this year) but its worth it. Looking to have around 100 Audi's in our lineup. I dont think we'll ever beat the Saab guys, they always somehow get 130 or so.

Why yes, yes we are!! We are actually getting to PA Wed night, so we have part of the day Thursday to roam around. Will you be coming to Carlisle at all, Morgan? I know there was some talk about some of us venturing out there this summer. I think our plans now are to actually camp at Carlisle Thursday night (which is a night early), get up Friday and head to a section of the old abandoned PA turnpike, do biking, then head back to Carlisle.

Not sure what all we are gonna do Thursday yet...

    Hey everyone!

I've been on vwvortex for six months or so. Moved back to Fort Wayne from Ohio in the summer of 2010. I drive a 2000 2.slow Golf. Not anything special, but if I can find a job, money will be going into her. Here is my car as of today:

I cant get a good look at it with my tiny iphone screen, looks like there was a bit of contact tho on the intake valves. How are the pistons? Was your cam tensioner the problem? I may have to dig and see if ive got one. If you are looking for a new one, make sure its made with the VVT. Other tensioners can work but youll have much less power.

Welcome mitchellm! I know that 2.go can top speeds over 65, because i saw you pulled over on 69 by illinois rd a little over a month ago!

Nice to see the mk4s coming out of the woodwork lately

Yeah, that made my day extremely ****ty.
He caught me going 77 in a 65, but definitely not the top speed for my car.

You've got the cam out in these shots, correct? If so, it does look like your intake valves on cylinders 3 & 4 have been lightly munched. I'm also curious to see some piston shots...

More importantly - got an email from the Old Fort Club saying they enjoyed having us at their meeting at Vorderman's last month, and we're all invited back to May's meeting!

So - tomorrow, May 7th at 6:00pm @ Vorderman's north building (5830 Cross Creek Blvd, Fort Wayne IN). Alex is manning the grill again; we are to bring the side dishes to go with the sandwiches. Pop, chips, ice, plates and utensils will be provided.

Rain or shine, come on out!

Got the door jams on the Golf painted today. I absolutely love this color. Its supposed to be rain free from Tues-Sat so hopefully ill be able to finish the Golf and start prepping the jetta for paint! After that, im moving the Corrado over to my house to finish the swap and paint that too.

Ill have the jetta's cup kit off and for sale by the end of the week too...busy busy

I go to Ivy Tech for automotive technology but am not taking classes this summer. This last semester was my first in the program and I've learned a lot so far.

as posted on my facebook, ended up purchasing this R32 this past weekend.

2004 R32, original owner, 70k (now 71K) miles, flapper mod, glass 20th AE/e-codes, rear fog, and euro switch. said he kept it in a climate controlled garage behind his house and it NEVER saw rain or snow. felt bad driving it in the rain to my hotel last night, then again this morning.

just minor plans for 2012: a drop of some sort (not mk3 low), exhaust, and chip.

never got tired of the exhaust note during the 13-hour drive home. i'm stoked to say the least.

Pick up a cheap little cruising around car. Nothing fancy, just something nice to cruise in.
And no I don't really have any suggestions at the moment besides a Triumph or MG and hate on me if you want I would cruise around in one.

Lol! Now that you mention it, I think I still hold the titles to a 92 Corrado G60, an 87 jetta deluxe, and a 90 passat...I think that's about it.

No way I'd hate on either of those. I've always thought about picking up a miata....

Nice Byler! Was the GTI sold locally?

Looks like my GTI was sold by Carmax sometime this week. It wasnt even available for sale on their lot for more than 3-4 days!

Detailing madness this weekend/early next week for Carlisle . Gonna get to see a screening of The Truth in 24 II and have an epic time. Looks like we will have 90 or so Audi's registered

In between finals last week, I started applying what I was learning in Unibody class to the front clip of PigPen. I needed metal to replace the damaged / rusted areas of the Pickup, and for some of those sections I'll need whole hunks instead of just little patches.

So, out comes the spot weld bit, the bigger hammer & a small cold chisel. Off comes the passenger side front frame rail:

So far I've pulled the core support & both front frame rails:

The passenger inner fender / strut tower is almost ready to come off, just need to get some new dremel cutoff wheels to slice some mig welded spots. Now that I kinda know what I'm doing, taking a unibody car apart piece by piece without damaging it is fun

Anywho, as I was pulling off the driver's side frame horn, I found the last mouse nest hiding way in the back:

The smell immediately brought back memories of working on this car out at the KDF HQ

i can't wait to do brakes on this car and put HAWK pads on instead of the dusty-ass OEM pads. washed most of the bugs off today as well as the wheel grime.

to the untrained eye, it looks like a bad parking job, however, i park as close as i can to my BMW to give the R32 some room for door swinging idiots that seem to populate my apartment complex.

I made my first real maiden voyage in the Beetle tonight! I went to the downtown Noblesville cruise in. That's the farthest its been, under its own power, since I've had it. It felt great! Scary and bouncy as chit, but great nonetheless.

    That is all
