    I cant wait either!!!

Anyone got a welder or a friend/hookup at a muffler shop? Places around town are wanting to charge me $65 to weld my muffler on . Ive got the muffler and everything...

Id rather sound like a civic than pay a shop 65 bucks for a minor weld job

Ain't that what JB Weld is for?

Avoid the Midas / Tuffy places like the plague. I'm hunting around right now to see if any of my hot rodding friends here in town have a suggestion / hookup for ya...

Brian advised that I avoid those types of places, too. However, out of desperation I took my wife's Jetta to FAIR Muffler shops (on Coliseum & Lake) and they did a decent job and didn't cost much. I got a new resonator and one of the mufflers replaced on the VR6. Yeah, yeah... I would love to buy a proper stainless exhaust for the car, but I really couldn't find a quiet system on my budget and my wife doesn't need/want the performance/sound from an expensive aftermarket. I was pleasantly surprised by the results and the price was very cheap...I have no idea what they'd charge for a simple weld job though.

If you go, tell them Drew with the red Jetta sent you. They might remember me. haha.

Oh by the way, I'm a Fort Wayne dubber and make it to the GTGs every once in awhile...I'm better about attending in the summer than in the winter. To anyone new on this thread, come on out to the GTGs on the first Wednesday of each month. The more the merrier. Not much exciting goes down, but we all talk cars and car stuff and drool over Karen's Lotus/S4/Cobra.

Here's my ride. I have a silverstone GTI, live on the NE end of town, work near downtown. I see a couple black GTIs around my neck of the woods and a nice jetta TDI that's lowered with nice rims. If you guys are on here come one out to a GTG.

Here are my VWs....nothing special on either. Give me a wave if you see me...I'm a dorky guy with plastic glasses. My asian-looking wife drives the Jetta...you can wave at her, but she probably won't know why.

yay, drew made the thread! haha. you still need to bring that vr to a meet. there is a really clean red mk3 jetta for sale on tonkel. trim wise it looks like it could be a vr, but not sure without actually stopping. the price in the windshield is 3900, so makes me believe it's a 98 or 99 vr.

as for exhaust work, i would try a place like exhaust world before midas type places. there is a monroe in auburn that just loves to do shoddy work.

oh, and i found out that with my winter wheels on, my car is too low to get the oil changed at the place i normally go too. the rails around the pit are too tall

I think I've finally beat this superflu thing down enough to attend (and not be contagious to the rest of you)...

I've had a couple folks ask me about changing the date for next month's meeting so that those with Wednesday night commitments can attend. So, I'd like to propose our March meeting be on Thursday the 13th. We can decide closer to the date if we're going to meet at IHOP (if it's still nasty) or Vordermans (if it's nice, which I doubt).

Anyway, think about it and we'll discuss more tomorrow at the meeting. And perhaps do some reverse donuts in the ice and snow

Oh yea, almost forgot - the MIVE folks just announced MotorStadt 5 dates:

    Motorstadt 5
VW, Audi, air & watercooled car show
    June 7th, 2008
    Volkswagen of America
    3800 Hamlin Road
    Auburn Hills, MI 48326-2856

If you haven't been to this show in the past, it's worth your time to go this year. I'd like to start arranging our usual caravan to both this and the MidWest DubFest in Indy this summer too. Both are great shows with great people and some really nice cars. Plus, we usually have a blast driving up and back as a group (that is, when we don't have to take detours into the backcountry due to flaming tractor-trailers on overpasses)...

Due to extreme weather conditions! , my bro and I couldn't make it to the meet tonight. However, if the weather is a little better by March, we're definetely there!! Just let us know when you guys have a set date.

Yeah, good meet tonight, I cant wait for warmer weather. Byler I know you mean good about educating me about the lease
Fortunately I have family members that do this and have given me the negatives and positives, and I have weighed them accordingly.

Looks like I'll probably be rolling in my first VW to the next meet!

and the way i look at it is, there is no right or wrong when it comes to buying vs leasing. everybody has different agendas and feel more comfortable with whichever path. there's no reason to argue or defend one's decision, because each person is right in their own mind.
