Is that why the B6 lost "active" head restraints...to make way for LCD screens? I wonder: how does the screen get power and source data? I don't see any wires; maybe the headrest support rods are hollow, and wires run through those? I think there should be an LCD screen in the engine bay too -- for displaying the Bently repair manual CD.

      The biggest secret is.....

That VW changed things throughout the year in 2006 and the 2007 B6, So some of the "secrets", may not be in your vehicle. Like the parking stub holder they ran out of late mid 2006 or the A/C vent that disappeared in late 2006.

For future reference for others in the 2007 Passat, you hold the wrench button down with ignition off. While still holding the wrench button turn on the ignition all the way, but do not start. Release the wrench button and press and hold the minutes (min) for a few seconds.

not sure if this has been covered but with the rear electric windows as a safety feature if you hold your hand inside the window gap (not rec for small children as a test) it will roll back down when it hits yor hand. Also for those with auto hold if you turn the autohold on while stationery it will apply the park brake when you turn the autohold off..

you can set winter tire speed while driving.
just hit reset and it locks in the speed you are doing that moment.
found out by accident when i looked down
and the mfd read 17 mph exceeded.))

Sounds like resetting the service reminder. I'm not sure though.

      Great Post!!!!!

I just brought my 08' passat this past Saturday...so I'm new to the German World of Fun. I just traded in my 05' Neon...so THIS CAR IS THE ****!!!

I learned most of this stuff in the owners manual...however I still have one questions.

When the MFD is calculating your speed...it doesn't seem to work right...it stays the same for awhile and then goes up 1mph. It's weird, how do I get it to really tell me my speed?

      Thanks,

Why hasn't this been made a sticky???

on my '08 MT wagen if the door is closed and your seat belt is buckled the parking brake will disengage once you start driving, and if you have autohold on, it will automatically engage the parking brake once you turn off your car. So, I have no real need for the button.

Sounds like the drivewr's seat is adjusting downward. Very hard to see but it does happen on my new 2008 2.0T Passat Wagon, Lux version

On the wagon, you can set the height the gates stops when it opens.

To adjust, open the gate. Once the gate is fully open, manually pull the gate down to the desired height. (or raise it)

Hold the close button until the tail lamps flash. R

      Release the button.

Now when you close and reopen the gate, it will stop at the new selected height.

can our cars not have floor/foot vents + front defroster on at the same time?

I've also noticed that when initially setting front defroster on, it automatically turns on the a/c. And if you turn off the a/c and let it run, shut the car off, and turn car back on. A/c will remain off until front defrost is turned off and on again.

Mine actually has a setting for just that, that is the one I use most of the time. But I have Climatic, you probably have Climatronic.

Here is one I haven't seen in the list yet: Even if you don't have memory seats, your car will still associate different setting in the MFD with each key. For example, I have mine set to German language & temp in Celsius, my fiance when she uses her key gets it back in English and Fahrenheit.

My wifes key fob automatically moves seats to her saved memory position when shes unlocks the car with her remote. If I unlock with my fob its goes to my saved position. The manual walks you through the set-up. Love that.

Didn't see this one, it's kinda cool if you have multi drivers.

The seat memory can be programmed to each specific key so that when you unlock the car it adjust to that driver. Refer to owners manual for instructions.
