The wife is needing a new car, and her current ride is a '93 camery wagon beater. She loves the room and utility of the wagon but would like something newer. Any word on when the Jetta Sport Wagon will hit the dealers??? Any help will be appreciated...thanks

In VWs defense, there was a severe fire in one of the factories making the TDI engines, IIRC. VW decided to allocate all TDI engines to Europe, and postpone the Wagen until there were sufficient engine numbers for both the sedan and the Wagen, in the US. Then the TDI got delayed because of longevity problems with the catalytic converter (now resolved), and VW decided to start the wagon without the TDI, in the US. TDI should show up in the fall?

). At any rate, there also was a shortage of TDI manufacturing capability, for both the PD and CR engines.
Please note the old dates on rumor mill posts, in this link:

Keith Price wrote us back to confirm a plant fire that destroyed between 12,000 and 15,000 cylinder heads is to blame for this delay. He also says pricing for gasoline and diesel models has still not been finalized.
