Winnipeg VW Peoples

Just wondering if there is anyone else on here from winnipeg. Just got my VW a few weeks back, loving it. I'm pretty sure I'm the only 20AE in Winnipeg.

There used to be considerably more activity on a Winnipeg thread here. But, there hasn't been any activity for a long time now. Congrats on your new 20th, nice car!

I know some of the bigger contributers got out of the dub scene. I guess our enthusiast population is just too small to sustain itself. Now if I want Canadian content I lurk on the Ontario site (for better or worse).
Over the last few years there have been a few GTGs, I believe Autohaus may still do an annual Euro thing, but not a lot of activity generally.

I may not be from Winnipeg itself, but only 90 minutes away in friendly North Dakota, sadly. Our VW scene is terrible, and Winnipeg is the closest city I know of that I can converse to other enthusiasts.

Yeah i know those guys Its a european forum i guess.

there is also the uberwagon vw club. They are mostly into the air-cooled / early vw stuff. Cool guys tho nonetheless.

i tried to make an account on ecode204 and they never let me, it would be nice to meet some other dubbers in winnipeg.
i showed up for an uberwagen gtg at skinners when i still had my mk2 and it was a really good time, cool people there.

Had the same "banned" email problem when trying to join other forums. You need to have an email account that isn't free. Hotmail, yahoo, and others such as these aren't accepted. Try your work or school email if you have one.

Also, Winnipeg people check the link in my sig if you are interested in a FK cupkit for your MK4.

I've been here 5 times in the last few months, and I still am not getting some of these roads... where portage meets empress is way above my head lol.

Thanks guys! I'm home now. Wow that was cold. I went to the pony corral for dinner and left my chicken wings in the car thinking it was ok, as they would stay cold. Unfortunatly, they became totally rock hard frozen solid.

That corner (empress/portage) totally messed me up. I ended up being totally on the wrong side of the road. At least it was at 3 in the morning and noone was around to see my blundering.

Also, a certain traffic light along Academy seems to hate my workmate. Every time he drove through that intersection, the flash from the red light camera went off. Even when the light was green. He never did anything wrong. The only thing we could think of is are you supposed to stop at flashing yellow lights? In ontario we don't. But then again, when I was driving, no camera flashed went off. He resorted to flipping the camera the bird everytime he drove through. Looking forward to seeing the pictures from that.

Beamsville is on the south shore of lake ontario, almost directly across from toronto, and east of hamilton. About 45 minutes from Niagara falls.

Was your buddy speeding? And which pony corral did you go to? I bartend at the one on Pembina, Pier 7.

Not really... maybe 8 over. I know I went through that intersection going a bit faster and it didn't go off. It is the weirdest thing. We went to the pony corral on Grant. Twice. Good wings & Guiness... can't go wrong . Oh and I totally love that there was an all night drive through beer store in the parking lot of our hotel on pembina. And a Porsche/VW dealer across the street.

Agreed, although I don't go there 90% of the time. It's a little out of the way for me. But I definitely agree, it is an awesome vendor.
