That's a pretty sweet score. When I had my mk2 I got a complete Gti interior for 80 bucks

I've got two cars on the maintenance thing so far. Still more to do on the GTI tomorrow, so i'm kinda busy for the next week or two. It's actually not bad to do, the guide that I linked helped a lot and I mainly followed that, and a Bentley for a few torque specs and such.
Other then having to remove the engine mount before taking the timing cover off it went really well. Lining up the new belt, making sure it's really tight on the left was the most difficult part.... being SURE that it's dead on.
Though my timing kit wasn't shipped with the timing tentioner and I had to run to vw and pay an insane amount of money for an OEM one 30 min before they closed.

Have someone there to help, beers and food. Goes by quick. Coolant made a mess.

Well I'm taking everything apart again tomorrow, I can't remember if I properly torqued down the timing tentioner on Saturday.
It's been bugging me since Sunday morning, can't take it anymore... not driving it until I check. I really think I did, I remember torquing everything else down... but that. ugh

that sucks, if it makes you feel any better I broke the oil filter housing. there goes $120 on a piece of plastic and one of the bolt heads for my diverter valve is stripped so i cant get to it. real piss off

I checked that nut and put it all back together. All of four hours of work plus time to make sure I have enough coolant.
My filter housing leaks, don't know why, I'll check next oil change.

Bolts like that are a pain, did you spray them with a penetrating oil?

    edit: The nut was fine.

Any Winnipeg Dubbers wanna do a favour for a dubber a little outside the area? I know it's a long shot but I need some parts from Western Turbo Diesel. Problem is they're open Mon-Fri closed weekends. I'm pretty well only off on weekends. If somebody would be willing to pick up and pay for roughly $40 in Misc rebuild parts I can come up Saturday and/or Sunday to pay for and pick up the parts from you If you're a nice guy and want to give me a hand shoot me a text and let me know and I'll give you the deets on the parts etc you'd be asking for.Cell 1-Eight0Seven-220-058six (formatted so bots can't read it)

Anyone offer yet? I don't know if I'm available Saturday but Sunday is possible.

    What needs to be installed?
