I checked the Winnipeg Wheel site and i'd be looking at like $1000+ through them to get my wheels redone. I can buy brand new repros for that price. Ultimate wheel quoted me 500 for straightenning, refinishing (take out all the curb rash), strip and powder coating.

Is someone gonna buy this? Don't let it go to someone who doesn't know how special this thing is.

Even if parted out it would be at least 3k, and the low mileage!

It sure is! I was actually renewing my license when the guy brought it to be written off. He drove it there and everything.

I've been on the hunt for some nice rims, so hopefully in the next week or so I see a set that catches my eye. Also any good exhaust places around?

There is a set of 17" bbs on kijiji. But they are 114.3 so would need adapters. Only plus is they are 125$ in Brandon. And as far as summer time goes its here :

So here's a weird one. I had my GTI in to a local VW specialist garage, to do my rear brakes (I would have replaced the pads myself, but my calipers were seized too). They phoned me asking if I had had my timing belt done. I thought they were looking for more work and I told them it was done at 110,000 km (car is now at 170,000). They then informed me that the belt was somewhat worn and the tensioner was very loose and I was lucky the belt hadn't slipped off! But here is where it gets really weird... they said they found my engine cover VW logo inside the timing belt cover! Sometime after St. James VW had done my timing belt work, I had noticed my logo was missing, but I had assumed I had lost it on the road somewhere and I actually bought a new one. There is obviously no way it could fall under the cover, someone had to have either accidentally left it there or intentionally done this. I feel the only time this could have been done was back when St. James did the original work, as I have not had any other engine work done at all. I phoned the St. James Service Manager and General Manager, but felt pretty rudely treated, like they thought I was making all this up (I am not that imaginative). After all this time, I wasn't expecting much, but I also feel this had to have happened in their shop and they could have stepped up a little.

St James service department has gone downhill in the past couple years. Too bad really.
They'll never see another one of my cars unless it's warranty work.

I trust both VW dealers in town as far as I can throw them. Part of the reason I got out to something not VW

This is def the truth. I find St.james has really gone downhill period.

My parents drive a tiguan and while getting an oil change, their air box was removed and left off. Like completely did attached.

    Seeking advice:

My turbo seems like its past the point of no return. Brought the jetta over to a local vw specialist in hopes of just replacing the actuator on the turbo. As tested previously the actuator was sticking halfway through its movement. Unfortunately when inspecting it further this time, it was the veins themselves that were sticking and pretty bad at that. He said he was really trying to work the veins back and forth for a good 15 mins but they were still sticking hard halfway. I asked about a turbo cleaning but in his experience previous customers came back within a few months to half a year with the same overboost issue. I was told im also risking the same issues installing a rebuilt turbo, if i were to choose that path. So now I either part ways with a good chunk of money for a new turbo or I live in the world of intermittent overboosting and limp mode.

If anyone had any history with this all suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Replace the turbo, you'll just cause yourself more problems as the car isn't healthy.
