      Nice..... told you so :-p
Fluid coming from in between the engine and transmission... losing break fluid...

Dropped out the shifter box on the mk2. Took the lower dash apart to expose wiring.

well, i figured since my paint arrived i'd go ahead and paint this weekend.

started on my grill earlier tonight. a couple coats of adhesion promoter, 3 coats of primer, and just did my 3rd coat of base color. gonna mist it in about 10 min from farther away to make sure the metallic flake is even, then start on the clear coats.

highest grit paper i could find was 400.. anyone know where i could get 1000 or higher? =]

      apparently wal-mart has 2000 grit.
i'm amazed i couldnt find it anywhere else. what is this world coming to??

anyway, i dont need that til tomorrow. i finished the final coat of clear, and snapped a pic after peeling the tape. the honeycomb is still black and the smiley is still chrome. tomorrow after i wetsand and buff the clear coat, i'm gonna cut out the emblem holder and plastidip spray the honeycomb to match the texture of the lower grill

it looks great, i cant wait to see it on the car =]

ordering these tomorrow too i think:
      http://www.osirusa.com/mm5/merchant....ry_Code=VJETEB
and those too will be body color of course. itll really clean up the front end i think.

Well it's never bad to have 800 and step up to 1000 than 2000....
That's where I bought all my sandpaper. I need to get more for the 88.. I don't plan on sanding it all down just the flaked clear coat.

well i found my sandpaper. walmart car section, they have 800, 1000, and 2000 in separate packs.

got some permatex gasket remover to try and strip the powdercoat from those wheels too. came home and started doing stuff.

began sanding the paint off one of the rattle-canned wheels... ugh. such a bitch. took a break from that and tried the gasket remover. didnt do **** to the powdercoat, i tried 3 applications and it doesn't seem to be even beginning to weaken the coating. got frustrated with that and gave up on wheels for the day lol. oh i bought some oem center caps too, since the two that were on these wheels were painted black..

wet-sanded the paint on my grill, then broke out the random orbital buffer to polish it. that put a big grin on my face, it looks exactly like my car. i did notice a couple areas on the edges that didnt get enough paint, so i'll get to practice my blending skills... which is good cuz this paint matches so close i'll probably fix that deep scratch on my hood myself.

      on to the pic...

did a little more research... think i might get some of this stuff.

      http://www.eastwood.com/ew-powdercoa...ver-quart.html

my other option is paying a shop in town $100/hr to sandblast, with an estimate of 2 hours for all 4 wheels.

      Bet that'll feel good

sigh... its looking like i'll have black wheels. ive contacted a few shops and the consensus is sand is the only way to get the powdercoat off but itll destroy the aluminum underneath.

oh well.. black powder is way easier to take care of than polished aluminum lol...

Mk3 shifter assembly in place. Had to leave off with it here today to handle some family business. Plus I left my drill at my grandmothers yesterday.
Going to drill a hole through the top for the top bolt that sticks out of the shift box. Stick a nut on it... than shoot 4-5/16 sheet metal screws in for the bottom
This should hold. If not over time... I will do something else

Fixed the boost leak on the 337. Oreillya 2 inch super thick hose for the win.. thicker stronger.. plus I have about 9 inches left of it for future breaks.

like THIS? have you ever taken powdercoat off before? i was a little disappointed and deflated when the gasket remover didnt work.. a lot of websites claimed to have success with that stuff.

I just don't want to keep buying things and trying them.. wasting time lol. I wanna have them finished and on my car for wasser wagens!.... polished ideally.

oh nice. thatll be sick when its done =]

      this morning... frustration and anger
lol, so i mounted my painted grill... and its SIGNIFICANTLY darker than my car. there's no way this color was mixed correctly. considering it took 2 weeks to get the paint the first time, and to get the replacement i have to send a color chip back, there's no way these people will get me new paint before the 24th.

i remember one of you guys mentioning a paint place in town... anyone remember what it was?

in other news, got the new axle finally. its so nice to be able to actually drive again lol.

      pics of fubar paint match:

this paint job consisted of the following (followed directions exactly)

      1. mist adhesion promoter
      2. full coat of adhesion promoter
      3. 3 coats primer (light color)
      4. 5-6 coats of basecoat (cant remember exactly)
      5. 4 coats clearcoat
      6. wetsand with 1000, then 2000
      7. random orbital buff with rubbing compound
