How do you find the build date?

      I know mine's a 1990... But it was first bough/titled on 6/19/1991
and my number is really high

I assume that would actually mean it was a '89 production, making it to the US in '90.

Drivers side Door Jam sticker. Mine also had a little white sticker in the trunk with the build date (not the Option build sticked as that does not have the build date on it to my knowledge). Almost looked like a little price tag

I've been running in to some conflicts with prodution dates to seq. numbers. I've come acrossed a few seq. # lower then others in a lower prodution date. Any ideas guys? in the prodution years of 89 an 90 were there diffrent planets?

      Beats me.
If the production number was supposed to reset every year, then my Jan '90 can't be #15565. It is either an '89 build (but for US import they had to stamp it '90 or something), or they didn't reset until later. It would be interesting to know.

They were all built @ Karmann in one plant, not sure why the build dates and serial #'s dont make sense

      According to http://www.abvwc.org.uk:
Production year runs from August to July. So a car manufactured in October 1992, will be a 1993 model according to the VIN.
That makes a lot of sense!
