Chapter 3 - The Injuries.....what can ya do...

Kazmir - I hope he comes back in full force.....should be solid if he does.

Doesn't matter. I'm f'ed in this league anyway. Liriano and Buehrle have both gone 2/3 of an inning while giving up 6+ runs. Hoffman and Gagne seem to enjoy serving up BP fastballs to their opponents with 2 outs in the 9th. And while my team is hitting for a great average, my other offensive stats are just average.

Anybody want to trade me some good pitching? I could also use a good OF and some SB.

No idea but they have Utley, which is a big reason they're been so good offensively. He is on a tear. Whoever he is he also has a decent crop of players who have gotten off to good starts. His pitching isn't so hot though.

B12'n'Lido is inactive. I talked to him and he said he probably isn't going to follow the league at all. We have two options...

Option 1.
What I can do is adjust his roster so his "best" players are active/

Option 2.
I can do a draft sort of thing where I use the league manager tools to drop players from his roster and add them to our rosters. I can do this in a manner that won't affect anyone's waiver order, but you would have to tell me who you want from him and who to drop from your team.

I figure if we do the second option we would do it in reverse draft order.

Let me know.

I guess a third option would be to find another owner to take over his team.

Meh, I think you play his best players and leave it at that. Redrafting his whole roster would get messy.

I just looked at his roster.

It's mostly crap players (Reyes, Ortiz, Figgins, Lee, and Ramirez are about the only offensive players with any fantasy value).

...his staff aside from Nathan... is pretty bad...

You redraft that team, and you'll get half the league getting guys with value and the other half getting crap.

To be honest, considering I have been in last place pretty much every day except from the start, I would like to have a chance to add some folks to my team. I haven't moved from lat place at all and it’s a pretty sizeable margin too, so I'd be happy to take a few guys on my team.

You were the first pick, which means you'll get the 12th pick... by the 12th pick, you'd be lucky to get Wainwright or Jason Bay... Is that really going to help you?

We drafted the way we drafted... I dont think it's the best idea to flood the market with a bunch of FA's 5 weeks into the season.

Edit to add... 2 of the top 5 in standings will have the 1st two picks and be able to add players like Joe Nathan or Jose Reyes. If Im in 1st, and Wilkins (who no doubt would take Carlos Lee, Ortiz, or Nathan with the second pick)...do you blame me for not wanting there to be a draft? He's going to get to add an A level player... and he's already at the top of the standings.

Being mired in 5th place and having the 1st pick in the potential draft, I'm in favor of it for completely selfish reasons. Replacing Jeff Keppinger with Jose Reyes would be a really nice upgrade.

That said, I understand beng's position completely. It would certainly change the competitive balance of the league. Whatever everyone else thinks is best is fine with me.

Beng wants to retain 1st place the rest of the way I see……..

I don't care……I've gotten comfy in last, so if I am able to get a guy or two to at least be a "little" competitive, it'd be nice…..but don't care either way.

I'd rather not have a draft though. JW….if you want to use some other means to break up that team, go ahead as long as its not a draft.

The teams that I think should get first dibs are the bottom 5. Just taking my team as an example, all are healthy and playing at their general levels of performance, so its pretty obvious even 2 or 3 of the FA's won't bring me to first. Maybe a few notches up? But in no way a 1st place team.

There is no way everyone is going to be satisfied. The most competitive way in my opinion would be to start from last place and go up, but then we would be forgiving anyone who had a bad draft and forgetting there was originally a waiver order. Then as Beng said, if you go by original waiver order he may get ousted from 1st though. The only way that would avoid either of the above would be to draw names from a hat so it is totally random or just leave things as they are.
Looking at his roster overall there are at least 10 or11 decent players, not all superstars of course. Some would be beneficial to many teams though. As a side note, is his the only team not playing?

I guess I was just trying to think of some fair option rather than accepting the trade he sent me. Reyes and Papi for Weeks and Francoeur with the note "Merry Christmas".

got a Q... my team on another league is second to last in HR's and i have someone proposing a straight up trade i get Howard and he get Rollins... do you think it's worth the risk of howard having an off year with the problems he's been having in philly?

My preference would be (in the following order):
1.) Set his players to Active (if it was a head to head league, then I'd say we should break the team up).
2.) Random draft of players
3.) Draft of players with draft order determined by standing (last goes first).
4.) Draft of players using reverse draft order (this is the only one I actually hate).

But it is the one option that actually works within the rules of the league. If you broke the team up and put everyone on the wire, the "draft" would essentially consist of teams using their waiver priority to take the best available player. I've been holding onto my number 1 priority all season waiting for the right player to come along, and lo and behold it's Jose Reyes.

Teams should not be rewarded for crappy drafts and poor management. Team Victory took a closer in the 3rd round - of course he's in last place. I waited forever to take a closer, and I'm 2nd in saves.
