just a short clip. i didnt have the boos turned up, it was only around 14psi. but gives you an idea of how much more fun 1st and 2nd gear are in my car when compared to a FWD VRT.

Awesome, love the whistle of the turbo, and growl of the VR.

This is, by far, my favourite thread on vortex. AMAZING build, rebuild, modifications etc. I'm an engineering student, and have a HUGE respect for attention to details. Absolutely perfect execution man! You are truly an inspiration for a lot of fellow dubbers, including myself. So thank you for your awesome build story! Please continue to display any more updates, or future projects.

update incoming.
installed a Morosso/INA custom oil pan. It uses the mk5 r32 oil pump. It gives an extra inch of ground clearance, has a full windage tray, and holds 7 liters of oil. Will post up pics in the next day or so.

update 1.
So I recently had the privilege of installing the new INA VR6 race oil pan on my car. The unit that I have is a pre-production unit, but as far as i know the production version is more or less the exact same.
main benefits of this pan.
- extra ground clearance. this pan sits over an inch higher than an OEM 12v pan.
- extra volume for increased cooling (7 liters of oil in my system without an external oil cooler).
- baffled, to keep oil at the pick up for the track or windy roads (or even on long highway ramps).
- fittings for oil return (front and rear), as well as for oil temp probe.
- steel, so will be more durable (unlike the mk5 r32 unit).
I'm not sure on pricing or availability, but if you are interest, please message Isaam.
now for the install.
first, here are 2 overview pics of the pan, so you can see how it looks. (all hail my Wurth spray bomb skills)
and now two pics of the internals. you can see the proper trap door style baffles, as well as magnetic drain plug.
now to give you a sense of the OEM pan, and how much clearance it has. Take note of the bottom of the pan in relationship to the bellhousing as well as the subframe.
the biggest concern of course is that the OEM pan is the lowest point of the car, and sits lower than the subframe.
now with the OEM pan removed, you can see the stock oil pump/pickup.
now look at the mk5 r32 pump/pickup. It is instantly obvious how much higher it sits (and how much of my powdercoating came off, lol)
and then.... drum roll please..................
the INA pan installed.
the most important pic, where you can clearly see that the pan is now higher than the subframe.
Thats it for now. Unfortunately i didnt get before and after pics of the ground clearance with the car on the ground. But its just too hard to get a good pic of that. But there is probably 1 1/2 inches of additional clearance. The other thing is that I'm actually seeing a bit higher oil pressure now, which may be because of the fresh oil pump.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.
I think this is a great product, and its nice to see companies like INA continue to support the VR6 platform.
Here is a link to the album where the pics are stored in case you want to see the full size version of the pics.
