A bit of work in the dark.

Anyone else have their car sound like a transformer after installing the PCV fix?

Brought it to the dealership and saw that my radiator cut about 20 of my wires from the engine harness including knock sensor 1 and 2, Intake flapper motor, and the wire to the sensor on top of my fuel pump.

IMO VW made a stupid idea of designing the radiator and fans without a shroud over them.... WTF were they thinking?!? I wanna have a shroud made, just dont know where to go to get it done

Oh, AND I drove to the dealership to pick up my touch-up paint. Guess what?

They ordered the wrong color from Germany. Idiots.

Now I have to wait another week and a half to touch up my paint chips.

What kind of sound is that? I mean how does the engine ever make the transformer sound.

Just curious what the sound is since I have the comp catch can from bsh coming this weekend. It uses similar blocking plate.

You shouldnt have any odd sound, It should sound like it usually did with the PCV in place. At first it will sound a little funny and act like it will wanna die, but that will go away in just a minute or less. If it hasnt, drive it around the block just to get it circulating. I have both the block off plate (winter set up) and catch can. I just reinstalled the catch can from having the block off plate installed for the last 4 months. One thing you could do, check the seal and make sure it isnt leaking. If it is, that might (very slim possibility) be the problem. It doesnt hurt to change it anyway and its 30 bucks at the dealership.

It would be different than yours anyway, regardless. The block off plate that you will be using has 2 ports that stick out the plate that hoses are connected to that go to the catch can. He has the revamp plate that completely gets rid of the pcv completely, rerouting internally... Its a totally different set up.

The only sound I think you could be talking about is the sound that the rear check valve makes after installing the block off plate. If you are hearing like a poping or knocking sound coming from your intake filter then thats normal. Only way to stop it is to remove the rear check valve.

I noticed it when I took it around the block, it's almost a whine when I hit boost. Not really variable with RPM or boost pressure.

I only called it a "transformer sound" for lack of better terms. Seems like that's what everyone is referring their weird engine noises these days, lol.

If it is a whine, like a turbo or a supercharger sounding whine - that is normal. That is just the sound of the turbo whistle that you hear from the intake, having an aftermarket intake amplifies the sound of the turbo and you hear it more. you may have not paid attention to it before and just now realizing it

I'm used to the sound of a turbo and supercharger, I've owned vehicles with both applications before. This is definitely a new sound, lol. I'm just completely stumped as to what it might be.

Mine does make some odd whining at partial and WOT, but it's not consistent. (non turbo spool)

I actually thought it was the rubber cover on the BSH intake, but that was discarded when I installed the DV relocation.

Everything runs stable and normal now, so I'm assuming it's just a VW sound.. not my first VW..and not my first random sound that won't go away :-)

I actually thought it was the rubber cover on the BSH intake, but that was discarded when I installed the DV relocation.

Everything runs stable and normal now, so I'm assuming it's just a VW sound.. not my first VW..and not my first random sound that won't go away :-)

I can try, it's muffled by my loud tires and engine noise.
