    Volkspoolen must have been working on a huge work unit, I got bumped to 4th.

    I haven't seen a points increase in about 24 hours, so I think my PS3 must be working on a huge WU as well.

    Could be an interesting update

    Sorry bro! They do seem to be giving me some high points WUs. That and I got 3 systems churning away, an 800 MHz G4, 3GHz P4, and a 2.33 GHz C2D.

  4. 04-30-2008 11:25 AM #144
    Anyone know how to check the status of a WU with a mac?

    Don't apologize, that's good stuff right there!

    Yes, I made an alias of /Library/Folding@home/unitinfo.txt and put it on my desktop. Open it up and you'll see the status of what your client is working on.

    example:

    Current Work Unit
    -----------------
    Name: Protein in POPC
    Tag: P2605R13C365G46
    Download time: April 30 11:51:43
    Due time: May 4 11:51:43
    Progress: 20% [||________]

    Come on guys, we're sliding down the rankings. There's about 20 billion people on the vortex, surely we can do better than #12,000.

    What a difference a month makes!

    Team Ranking (incl. aggregate) 5803 of 119371

    hmmmmm. I'm wallowing around at #16. Does folding benefit from multi-core set-ups?

    In a huge way.

    How fast is your system? Dual core, Quad core?

    Anything Core 2 Duo and up in Windows should be running the SMP client.
    http://www.stanford.edu/~kasso...t.EXE

    On a Q6600, it's easy to hit 3500+ points per day, which would put you into first place on the VWVortex team after about a week.

    The PS3 seems to be holding it's own then...what is the equivalent to PC #'s on the PS3?

    No clue. The ps3 is running on some kind of an 8 core board

    I would like to observe the effect of CPU intensive applications in a VMware environment.

    After this work unit I'm taking my MBPro off the grid. I'll keep my others up though. I want my mac back! Just wanted to see if I could get 1st. Anyone care to know my secret of being in first with only 40 WUs?

    If you tell your client to get packets over 5 mb you'll get bigger packets to crunch, and earn more points.

    edit --> client.cfg :

    for os x edit the 'bigpackets' line to say:
    bigpackets=big

    for windows edit the 'bigpackets' line to say:
    bigpackets=yes

    for PS3 find a way to edit a text file

    stop and restart your client to load the config, won't really take effect until you're done with your current WU.

    Come on 'Tex! Lets show 'em how its done!

    I might join you guys... I didn't know vortex had one... Audi world has one and I've been a part of that for a while... then stoped then rebuilt my dual core and gonna be using my old athlon xp soon... So I might step over once I get home.

    Also, would it be cheating if I installed this on 32 computers in my class that are normally on all day?

    Points already submitted under one team don not transfer over. Good work getting SMP going, it's a great way to pump out the points.
