Got cited for running my plate in the rear hatch window...was told before by city police that it was fine. Gonna take the case to court. The state cop was very unprofessional and rude to say the least.

Scuffed up my knuckles reaching into the dash to do the cruise control diagnostic on the harness.
Love watching the pedal get pinned to the floor as the pump runs. Don't love that I'm going to have to send in my cruise control computer for a warranty rebuild after less than a year. Also don't love that the shop hasn't responded to my warranty query from a week ago.

Pulled the trans.
Powerwashed/degreased the "new" trans (stock AUG unit from my MKII autoX car).
Replaced TO bearing, seals and gaskets, new thrust plate (old one was worn oddly), and clutch disk from MKII (since the AUG trans is a small spline, while my old 2Y was large spline. Both disks are in equally good shape).
Pulled driver fender to re-align door (which has been misaligned since I bought the car 5 years ago....FIVE years of shouldering the sticky door open, and I'm finally fixing it).
Finishing up tomorrow. Fresh gear oil, and up she goes.

Test fit done, I like where it's sitting. So I finished up the supports and the wiring, now to install dbw and the column then new carpet and the dash. Good day today!

Thought I figured out what was wrong with it.
Actually didn't.

Contiplaiting coils or air and looking at wheels. both are very hard choices

Joeslow came around and fixed a mindf*ck of a problem that I've had.
It seems that the coil isnt missing a thing.

Yea let me know how they ride maybe they improved quality again because my friend has them on his MK3 Vr Jetta and its bounces way too much all the time. I had inexpensive coils at one point and just got rid of them. The money I payed for my Ultralows was no big deal after I drove my car for a day it was so relaxing and now I look back and see I should have bought them right from the beginning. Best of luck with yours just putting my experience out there for fellow dubbers

My Cabrio came out of hibernation/storage and the first thing I did was clean the interior as best I could, but then it started raining. I did manage to install my Crown Royal CR red velvet bag shift boot with an OEM shift knob though! It had a raggedy OEM leather shift boot with holes everywhere and a dumb MOMO shift knob...

I bought a wire cover for my rear view mirror to help hide the wire coming from my mirror to my headliner. Defiantly helps clean things up a bit.

^^How much of a pain was that mirror to install? I just picked one up, and was wondering if it fits on the stock mount, or did you have to remove the stock mount and put a new one on the windshield?

I don't own a Mk3 (never have, never will... sorry)
This is MrMook's car.
Replaced tranny after it lost 5th gear due to a leak last sunday. No pics because a tranny swap is typical and uninteresting. He had a 2Y in there before, so we put something in with a longer 5th. It did however get new pushrod bushing & seal, new TO bearing, and a new thrust plate because his old pushrod bushing was trashed, and the pushrod trashed the thrust plate... locating it off center, bending the pushrod.![]()
He pulled the fender for some reason, and then we found this...
So we pulled the door, and removed the rot. Also found another small hole that needed attention.
Since it's a complicated corner, I made this patch panel.
Test fit went good enough
Mk3 sheet metal must be thinner than the sheet metal on Mk1s and Mk2s... So after burning through a little, i turned things back and threw down some boogers.
Added some filler
Etched and primed
Liberally applied some seam sealer
And painted...
Tomorrow it'll get a few coats of clear and we'll call it "sucking less than it did before"![]()
