The red belts are rare awesomeness , I have only seen 3 sets in person one being mine . so I'd say it's a club

And I have all red everything tails ,paint ,red stitched boots, the red belts ..but just the belts will work haha.

Got pumped up cause I found a lil whole in the wall place that has some 90's Reiger lips BNIB along with some other 90's goodies. Ooooooo!!! I love hittin the jackpot. Oh I am goin to go broke. But I guess I should grab some extra's to flip.
She keeps tellin me you should sell that POS everyday. And then I consider the alternative. A quiet, boring, lil eco box. And then when im on the on ramp to the highway I punch it and wind out 3rd gear and hear that intake and the exhaust together in perfect harmony as it rips a humongous hole in the ozone layer and causes the spontaneous explosions of tree huggers faces . I my VR6!!!

Put the dehumidifier in it again

After I fix the neutral safety switch, o2 sensor, and windshield on the 4.0L cherokee thats been sitting in my driveway, the GTI is finding its way into the garage and getting taken apart.

Get yourself some red 16ga, and black 16ga wire

Disconnect battery....always use best practice skills in the garage.

Build new loom: Tie the ends of the new wire together around your tow hook and twist them together as best as you can, not super tight, but loose...I used my lug bolt pipe for the wire, then pull kinda taught , then wrap black tape around the twisted pair for about 6-8ft wire loom.

Disconnect: Then keep about 2-3 inches of the wire with the connectors. There should be a red/black wire going to the connector located at Right-side brake light assembly that feeds up into the sidewall to the ceiling, there's 2-brown wires connected to the body ground right there also, unscrew this since one of the wires goes to your rear hatch opener. Then pull the wire boot at the upper right side of the hatch...and the little grommet at the 3rd brake light. There's 2 side buttons at the light housing, push them in and it should release the light, disconnect connector and again snip the old wire, leaving 2-3in's.

Swap-a-roo: Now that you've located both wires, and have the 6-8ft new wires taped off. don't tie them the the 2-old wires at the brake light, but instead have about a 6in overlap and tape them together, so you won't get a bulge/bump and snag on everything...low profile is key. Start pulling the old wire at the 1st boot till the new comes through, this part was easy. Then keep feeding till you get the little witch of a hole at the 3rd brake light. This is the test of your taping skills, it needs to fit through this slot/hole.

Connections: I used heat shrink fittings for 16ga wire. Connect red to red/black(+) and black(-) to the OEM brown at both connectors....may need to undo some of the black tape back down in behind the tail light assembly to get the ground back over to the side wall and reconnect this with the ground to your rear hatch opener. For extra precaution I did tape the wire/wire connections after shrinking the plastic around the wire shield. Refit the grommet and boot back where they belong.

Reconnect battery, and test. If you're popping the fuse, then you might have torn away some wire coating and it's grounding to the body...this is why I taped the 2-wires after twisting them together, a little added protection, like OEM.
the bulbs seem fine; every so often when i open/ close the hatch the third brake light will work for a trip or two.. so im guessing its the wires =/

Picked up my 16v head yesterday along with the upper and lower manifolds
Head is going to get ripped apart and get decked and a slight port and polish.
After work had some free time to kill so I cleaned the lower manifold because it was DIRTY!!!! Like really really dirty...
Upper manifold was fine so I threw it in the sandblaster and did work. He's a pic of the used dirty head and some before and after shots of the upper intake manifold.

^^^ that's the lower one after I cleaned the crap out of it. Was just as dirty as the head. Letting it air dry over night will sandblast it tomorrow after work.

    Decent day
    *Unpacked from H20
*Made headway on my clamshell gauge pods
*Put the roof rack valence on and took off the basket
    *Put the new wheels on
    *Reinstalled my sub
*Trouble shot the 3rd brake light issue
*Found out why my passenger seat is rattling (clip fell off)

Still need to figure out my catchcan setup, any suggestions, links to pics?

What do you think your starting price will be?
The GTI ones look good. I'd love some for my Jetta. They came smoked on the top half? I think...I'd have to go out and look I don't remember right now...plus it's dark outside.

    Wheels look good, man.

You should run bumpers that are fully painted. It would dramatically change the overall look for the better, and it would be more cohesive with the Gottis. The textured tops kind of cheapen the whole setup.

I'm not trying to bag on you by any means. Just a little constructive criticism.

Edit: I zoomed in on the photograph a little more and realized that they're true textured tops with the pin-stripe painted red. They're pretty dam sharp, but I still feel like fully painted bumpers would aesthetically fit better.

Thanks man. They are OE texture tops, I like'em. Might go a bit lower in the back but I like being able to have at least one person ride back there without rubbing. Now if only someone would sell me some flash red mirror caps.
