Ok, I've seen that many of you know absolutely nothing about your cars, so I thought i would help out with the basics....this is a DIY on how to start your car.

First i reserve the right to say that this is a DIY and hold no responsibility for those who do not follow exactly what is written and mess up their car.

    Step 1.

Unlock your car by pressing your unlock button on the key FOB. If you do not have a key FOB, you will have you insert the key into the driver's door (counter-clockwise) and turn to unlock the door.

    Step 2.

Now that your car is unlocked, open the driver's door.

    Step 3.

With the driver's door open, you can see the driver's seat. Climb into the car and sit in the driver's seat.

    Step 4.

Now that you're sitting in the diver's seat, you will need to flip the key out of the key FOB. Press the silver button on the top of the FOB.

    Step 5.

With the key being flipped out of the FOB, it is now time to insert the key into the ignition. Look below at the picture to familiarize yourself with the ignition.

    Step 6.

Now that the key is in the ignition it is time to turn the key (clockwise) to start the vehicle. If your car is a manual, you will need to depress the clutch. If you car is an automatic, you will only need to turn the key. Once you have turned the key(clockwise), the engine will start and you need to release the key.

    Step 7.

If your car is a manual, you need to make sure the transmission is in neutral before letting out the clutch. If your car is an automatic, you don't have to worry about anything. Your cluster should show the following:

Now that your car is started, you can drive to wherever you desire. Just be sure to close all the doors so you don't get the door open indicator in the cluster like below.

So that's why I haven't been able to get into my car...
If I ever 'check-in' somewhere on Facebook, it'll be Mt. Everest, Mars, or Kate Upton's bedroom. Not Chili's happy hour.

Thanks to you, I bumped my head on the door sitting in my seat, got lost opening my keyfob (because you said 'Now that you're sitting in the driver's seat,' yet the picture was outside of the car), made all of the nice little tick marks around my ignition to match your pic, couldn't find the cluch (though I did find the clutch), stalled out, got bit by a polar bear, and then tried to drive off until I realized my ebrake was still on.

Thanks for the wonderful diy. I expect a check for damages within the next two weeks *******.
