So a fellow 'tex member had their car hit the other night, and was patient enough to reassemble the evidence that was left behind. Below are the pictures of the pieces of the headlight that he was able to tape together. Does anyone have ideat what kind of car it came from? At first I thought mid 90's Accord, but that's not it... I know the CL loves trivia, so let's see if we can figure this out.

I have kept my GTI parked in its nice little secluded parking spot for a while now. I was waiting to get stg3 installed, new wheels, and new susp before driving her again. I got a phone call from my mother last night asking "what happened to your car?" I was actually pretty calm. Turns out, someone came into my drive way, and hit my rear bumper. They shattered their head light and left. I have reconstructed as much of the light as possible. The only markings on the light were as follows. "TYC" (company of the light) A few markings I cant make out followed by the number 91, then it also says H7 (prolly for Halogen 7) it looks like it could be from an older honda accord, what do you guys think? pics to follow.

At first I thought late 90's Camry, but that can't be it...

    Or maybe a mid-90's Taurus...

    Nah...

I'm guessing its going to be Asian or European, since it seems the turn signal bulb is colored, and not the lense. But thats just a theory.

    It is a mid-'90s Accord - 1994-1997. The all-clear piece fits over the half-clear half-amber piece.

Damn that Camry fits it man flip the larger lense over and perfect. Good luck with that...
I either carry my XD-45 or Kel-Tec .380. Depends on what I'm wearing... the XD-45 is a little large to conceal when wearing shorts. Extra ammo in a backpack in the trunk. Those goddamned zombie bastards aren't going to kill themselves. That's why. - medicracer

That Accord looks pretty damn close. Get us some pictures with the clear lense on top of the other half/half lense. It looks like they'd match up perfectly!

    Photoshopped for comparison:

I will see what I can get, but I tried photoshopping the headlight assembly over one of those 93-94 accords and it doesn't fit imo.. I will ask him to come add what he can to the thread

  9. 03-20-2008 10:09 AM #9
It's not the entire headlight as akadriver pointed out. It's just the turn signal and the clear plastic cover that goes over it. I agree with him that its a 94ish accord.

Looks like there is a partial part # on the lens. Maybe try to use that to find out the car?

TCL will have this knocked out pretty quick.
A real challenge would have been just to go by the photo of the shards on the ground behind the car!

Well you're in Florida, just call Horatio Caine. He'll have it figured out in a day. Two days, tops.

The headlight glass looks much too short compared to the 94 accord. The sidemarker is close though.

  16. 03-20-2008 10:30 AM #16
I have a 95 accord... I can go outside and get some headlight measurements if you want. Let me know.

    Where in CT was this?

It looks like they're from the same part. One goes on top of the other.

Agreed on a 1994-1997 Accord. I helped a buddy replace his headlight and turn signal and it was a two-piece affair like that.

He had to replace it because he was in Florida for spring break and said he hit a VW while lit.

The Accord looks spot on to me. That was good work by the guy to collect the evidence, put it back together, and keep photo records. Maybe now he should find that generation Accord on the street and see if they match up in person.

I wonder if the police will accept this as evidence? A lot of times, police won't bother with evidence this weak. I can hear it now: "Well what you want us to do, chase down every '94 Accord and question them?" Just hopefully the guy is a regular to that parking lot and will come around again to get caught.

I did sone pshopping and overlayed the clear lens with the reflector. With just some skewing/distorting to compensate for the different angles and distances of the two images, its a perfect fit.

Pshop of clear lens on top of reflector:

88+ CRX also have similar corner lens. Though 94-97 Accords seem more likely (The two horizontally parallel lines on the outermost clear shell)

i retract this. i don't think the amber relfector is the same shape.

Rich from Stamford with a white mkV? I think I've played beer pong a couple times with you at Kat's house in Fairfield. (Ryan aka Courtney's boyfriend).

Sorry about the GTI. I'll keep my eyes open for any mid-90's accords missing headlight lenses. Have you tried contacting any body shops in town to see if anyone with the same model has come in for front end damage?

Dude....I know it's a long shot...but you never know, this assclown could park around there and not have his headlight fixed yet...try some optimism for chrissakes.

No F'n way! That's awesome, i wouldn't have hesitated to call the police and bring along the pieces and take him (the police) to the car. I think you have enough evidence.
