something is wrong with my speed sensor, but i dont know where it is. I know its on the transmission but i have no clue what it looks like. If anyone has any pics or can tell me specifically where it is that would be great.

The VSS is on the transmission; on the top, and bolts-in directly down into the transmission casing.

No, more towards the rear of the transaxle.
Behind the shift linkage input, almost above the driver side output shaft.

C'mon Erik, you can do better then that VSS is inside this heat shielding bag.

its such a pain in the ass spot....

go stand near where the battery is and look down toward the back of the engine, you probably wont see it, but you might see a tinfoil heat bag covered in a bunch of grease and dirt, its inside the bag

I have the same issue with an 02 Jetta 1.8T. I am going to try to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor since I got a check engine code P0722. How easy (or hard) is this to replace?
