Very long term project coming to a close so to speak. No that wasnt a typo either, it really did start as a 1969. Another reason I love my job. Enjoy

It's very nice. I'm probably alone in saying that I'd prefer a really clean '69 911, but still - top quality stuff.

I work for STaSIS Engineering. I get to mess with all sorts of neat cars. beyond just the cars that come to us we are located in the business park at Infineon Raceway and there are shops around us involved in every sort of motorsport you can imagine. Shops here often work together on things. Always something cool to get to shoot, wrench on, dyno, maybe even drive.

Makes my job as a pen tester seem a little dull. Ha! Love to see some other notable work.

Did you use an old chassis for some championship regulation? Otherwise, I don't get it. Why not buy a 996 racecar?

      Very nice though.

      Two questions, one off topic

      1) Are those Jongbloed wheels on the Porsche?

      2) Will Herr come back for '09?

Now I know what a short wheelbase 996 would look like!

At this stage of the game why even bother starting with a car in the first place?

Just build it from scratch and don't bother pretending it was something else to begin with.

This started off as a 356....

996 race cars aren't cheap, and tube frames are easier to repair than monocoques. not to mention the 996 looks better than a 1969 911. in any case, he'll be able to make people think twice about the car they see before their eyes.

great work on that car. looks fantastic!

To the guy who asked about the wheels, yes you are correct. Good eye!

      For everyone wondering why...

Well main things are that this car in its previous version was already one of the fastest 911s in the country. Like I said it has been "built" before.

The result is a lighter car that is still legal in certain classes, and it can have more power.

This car is possibly the fastest / most capable 911 in the country if not beyond.

I'd have to disagree. A lot... Would have been nice if that hadn't done that to a classic but I think the old car is there, just sitting in parts in a corner of the shop.

well it really depends on what you're looking for. i can remember a woman i used to work with referring to the rear-engined Porsches as all looking like "half-worn bars of soap."
