Hey all. I am coming up on 23k and just read about the haldex oil change every 20k. I have the fear of doing it myself after reading the thread where the guy did it and experienced grinding so I am no looking into having a dealership do it.

What does the service cost? I just called Ganley VW in Cleveland Ohio (will be there next week) and they quoted $215 plus tax just for the oil change, no filter. Does this not sound high for oil that costs $20?

      Thoughts anyone?

the oil change is cake. it's the filter that's a lil annoying cause you need the special tool. you could get by wit just the oil change. for that you just need a tube of oil and some ramps.

It should cost about $100 at a dealer....def less than $150.

As per Haldex themselves, oil every 20k and filter every 40k. I know some people want to do the filter at 20k intervals, too, but Haldex suggests that 40k intervals for the filter is OK.

due to time constraints and a lack of a good place to do it, I had mine changed at the dealer. Ran about $125

Ganley VW in Cleveland wants $215 plus tax to change the oil and no filter. I told him that I though he was confused about the service that I needed yet he said his system said it cost his last R32 customer $215. What gives?

Think ill just to it mylself. Do I back up the Rhino ramps to service the haldex unit?

Does the angle of the car on ramps effect how much it drains?

      Hey bacon,

I/M me for details....I had my haldex serviced @ Ganley VW in No. Olmsted several months ago...$140 for fuid & filter. I had to negotiate a little (but I bought my baby there new & they are good guys really) but they admitted that they had never done 1 before. So I/M me & maybe I can hook you up.

Wow, that is cheap, one dealership in Gilbert wanted to charge me $239. I was like . So needless to say I didn't get it done there.

It was at Berge, and I didn't get it done there. I'm deploying soon (1.5 weeks) I'm gonna get the car ready to go into storage and do it when I get back.

Best of Luck! We appreciate your service. I'll have to check the other AZ VW dealers and see where they're at.
