lower ISO, use tripod, if flash is a must...filter it. With a tissue, cigarette box, or anything. You dont need high iso if you're shooting parked cars, it's a stationary object. And flash is questionable too, because if on a tripod you can just adjust for longer exposure/slower shutter speed, again since the subject is stationary.

Not to turn this into a photography thread, in your opinion- is it better to use a smaller aperture and slower shutter speed or vice-versa? ISO is kind of a crap shoot depending on the camera (with regard to the crazy high ISO's like 1600-3200,) but obviously lower is better, especially with large areas of darkness...
i mean when i take car photos at night...i like to use the lowest ISO for clarity, a small aperture if i can, and a way slow shutter speed...bulb if i have to and just control it manually and just get a totally raw photo....
like no unrealistic lighting (ie: flash etc) since to me it throws off the composition in thought because flash style lighting wouldn't normally be present when looking at a car at night...
hence the color balance would be abnormal and so would reflections, since usually there isnt a direct lightsource shining at a car from eye height unless its a flashlight, which doesn't happen often...of course that can all be edited to match better, but i just like the least editing possible, and to just have a sweet composed photo from the start...idk just little quirks with me when i shoot haha...im a designer so thats probably why i think so much about things and want them to be a certain way even if its unorthodox
Anyone want to meet up tomorrow in farmingdale? I can open the work place in the conference room, brew some coffee and all we need is the teacher! lol
Let me know.

i wouldn't mind getting to know my camera a bit more lol. and BTW.. what is ISO? and aperture?
Time for a car photography thread!
ISO is the sensitivity to light (ISO 100, 200 800 etc) not sure of the actual explanation as to how, just that higher numbers are more sensitive to light, and used in darker stuations. BUT... the higher the ISO, the better your chance of having "noise" and artifacts in the photo.
Aperture is the amount of light coming in which you can vary by changing the f stop; f22, f8, f4, etc. The smaller the number, the MORE light enters. f22 Would be a very small amount of light, and therefore need a longer shutter speed for the same amount of light as f8.
Depending on your camera, you may or may not be able to manually change these values.
thanks for that info..
hey kev.. since you have soo many accnts now.. im not gonna PM you lol.. but do you know when BSH is gonna have those HIDs in?
Trying to work on getting a manufacture that we can agree on.. I'll let you know. As of now.. focusing on a catchcan (almost completed) Solid RSB, and some other goodies, not to mention the website. I'll be honest, it's going to be awhile. But I'm sure we will eventually get around to it.
Kevin
how tall are you....my BF is 6'1 and he fits very comfortably in the car. There is alot of room for a driver and ONE passenger
I'm 6'6"... Maybe I'd fit? I can't see myself fitting too comfortably without the front seat touching the back seat.
I'm going to have to check that out... I've been digging TT's for a bit now.

I agree, but sometimes a diffused (on camera)flash is needed to correct some of the shadows. Depending on the placement of the light source you get some crazy triangular looking shadows.
Can't beat off camera strobes though
I've been wondering what happened to you, since the Mon. night gtg's died out at the movie theater I haven't seen you around... swing on by this week http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
