I really don't even know where to begin. I'm stationed in Charleston, SC. And I just got orders to Norfolk,Va. To the LHD 5 BATAAN. I'll be moving up to VA around the December time frame - IF NOT earlier for a school before I have to go to the ship. I would like to meet some locals - and get involved with ya.
If you guys have a local website- please post it up.
Thanks,
Breah...

Lots and lots of issues kept springing up - that I couldn't afford. Not on an e-3 paycheck anyhow. If you buy a mk2 vr already completed with the swap - make sure you know the background information.... what kind of budget the car was built on - how long it took. Who the owner is.. If a vr swap is done correctly you should spend no more than $2,500 on it. Due to the fact, that you're going to have to be spending a sheload of money for replacement parts.
If the swap is done incorrectly, you'll be looking at doing another swap -The body is another major consideration. DON'T go anywhere NEAR RUSTED MK2's. Pull up all the door seals - and carpet.
Just some pointers -- I have many more if needed. Trust me, its not worth getting bent over - just to have a mk2 vr. Personally, I want a mk1 cabby vr. That'd just be nasty. I FIGURE - maybe one day I could get my hands on a mk5 2.ot engine - slap that in a bia basket. That might be hot....

Well, we will check it out and go from there. I see this as a fall-back spot, but who knows. We will need everyone's input this weekend. I think we also still have to find a rain-delay spot so we can still meet during inclement weather. I think we are still under the opinion that we need to move the spot frequently, but that will be discussed as a group.

They do, but I see this as a way to represent imports in a not-so-Honda way - with better attitude. And who doesn't like to see muscle cars every-now-and-again?

Nope last time i was there it was saturday nights around the same time, usually mostly muscle cars get the special parking, then all the kids get to park on the outside of the roped off area and gawk.

Nothing wrong with that. If they want to pander to the muscle cars, that is ok. As long as we have a place to meet, it doesn't matter what side of the tape we are on, and it is just for this weekend.

Just becareful... those honda guys - and muscle cars tend to get the cops attention a lot easier than volkswagens.

^bass pro shops has been going on for quite some time here...so theres not too much to worry about...of course there will be the occasional peel out, revving etc but that comes with any circle of automotive groups...now fuddruckers in va beach on the other handat least that got shut down
#168
^^Not sure about the Fudd thing, but the Bass Pro show is supposed to be supported by Bass Pro Shops, so...This may very well be temporary, so I if anyone has any other ideas for meeting spots, we would love to hear them!
#169
Like Brian said, that is temporary until we all can figure something out for our regular meets. If anybody has a good spot they know of in the local area that they'd like to share, please bring all ideas to our meet this weekend.![]()

If its at Bass pro I probably wont be there. I dont feel like trying to be the a representitive of the dub community to the honda muscle cars in the local area. What happened to the GTG's we used to have where we didnt have to plan out every fing saturday where we will meet up? Yeah the parking garage got shut down for one reason or another but now it just seems like people are trying too hard to make these things work. It used to be a great time now its turing into a clickish pseudo (spelling) club... I just see this ending up like the HRDubs crap where everyone gets pissed at a few key people and **** starts falling apart again. Ive talked to a few people and I think Im gonna just go down low for a while and keep it tight knit. I will be here and there and you may or may not see me haha. Seems like ****s getting to political for my taste and less and less about the cars every week. Lots of new guys and girls can be good but the recent explosion of numbers at the gtgs has made them unstable... If you remember what they were like last year (for those who were around) after the fall around when Eurocolony popped up, we had some good times and thats what I miss. The big cruise we went on with some 56 cars that Morgan thought of (IIRC) that was a blast but that can only happen sometimes or it just get too complicated.
Lots of talking I know but I will end it here.Have fun I will see some of you around from time to time.
^ If you were at this one thats the kind of **** im talking about just keeping it simple with no BS.

Dood... I know exactly what you're talking about - and I'm not even from your area. This unfortunately happened here locally. And it happened in Florida where I'm from. Lots of drama always gets involved because friends bUy things from friends... and then friends realize it wasn't that great of a deal - or guys steal girlfriends.. or girlfriends cheat on boyfriend with guy friends from said clubs/gtg/meets.. The occasional honda guy starts brining +1 to the gtg.. Then it slowly becomes +2 and then before you know it its +30 hondas and 5 dubs. Or you have the 'clicks' that don't want to accept the new people in. So, you have people who get regularly harrased by these clicks. In attempt they try to start their own club but fail short of numbers. And when all said and done - it comes down to the main principle.WHAT WHERE WE HERE FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE?
Common interest - dubs.
And maybe some friendships.I'm sad to say - But I'm glad its not only SC that's this way.
PS.. Awesome mk2 Jetta!
