    Car:

    Year: 1993

    Type: 4 door

    Suspension type:

    Static coil over

    Springs:

    Front:
Volkswagen factory MKII springs with 1 3/4” coils removed from bottom of spring ($10 used, pair)

    Rear: Afco 250lb 7” long 2.5” I.D ($20 used, pair)

    Struts & Shocks:

Front: Modified strut housings with Monroe Sensatrac for MKI (for, externally threaded housings) ($64 new, pair)

Rear: Modified* Sachs Super Touring struts for MKII ($46 new, pair)

*Modification: I removed the top stop from the shock shaft, moved it down 1 ¼” and welded it to the shock shaft. Now the shock will not encounter its internal bump stop, and the operating range is closer to stock specifications.

    Rim & Tire:

    Wheel: 13” Factory steel wheel from 1985 Volkswagen Golf ( 13"x 5 1/2" 38mm offset, I think)

Tire: 175/70/r13; Bridgestone up front, Warrior in the back

    Ride Hight:

Front (highest point on fender arch***): 19 7/8”

***My wheel openings hang 1 1/8” lower than the stock configuration, due to the widened fenders. The measurements are of my modified fenders. This same suspension configuration on stock fox fenders would measure in at 21” exactly.

Rear (highest point on fender arch): 21 9/16”

Subframe (at lowest point): 2 ¾”

MKIII lip (at lowest point): 2 3/8”

Exhaust (at lowest point, non factory custom bent): 2 ¾”

    Rear:

    Subframe:

    MKIII lip:

    Exhaust:

    Stance:

    Total cost ( less labor):
    $140

    Suspension type: Stock configuration/static springs
    Springs: Vogtland 60mm springs for a MK2
    Strut insert: Bilstein sport
Rear Strut: Bilstein sport for a MK2 application
**I used the spring isolators from a mk2 in the rear, The fox one didnt fit correct (very close but the diamater was a little bigger on the fox spring) and my lower spring perch is set at the highest of 3 settings for now**

    Wheel/tires: Centra type 11 14x6, et30. Tires are 185/60/14 sumitomo htr200

Ride height: 23 1/4 at every corner (will return with other numbers after some miles if it settles down a little more)

    Heres what it looks like:

I took a measurement of mine before (well a measurement of the front, which was 25 1/2)

    Car: VW Fox GL
    Year: 1988
    Type: Wagon

    Suspension type: Static Coil Over

    Springs: Vogtland Sport for MK2 2.4"/60mm - 956656

    Struts & Shocks:
    Front: KYB - GR-2/Excel-G - Part# 365008
    Rear: KYB - GR-2/Excel-G - Part# 343191

    Wheels and Tires:
    Konig Feather
    wheel diameter: 15"
    wheel width: 6.5"
    wheel offset: ET40
    hub ring size: 57.1>73mm
wheel spacer (rear): 1/4" (this was in a pinch - was rubbing spring perch - I'll update once I find a solid solution)

    Yokohama S.drive
    tire size: 195/50R15

    Fenders: slightly rolled rears

    Ride height:
    Before:
    Rear: 24 3/4"
Front: 23 1/2" (wondering why this was so low with stock components)

    After:
    Rear: 22 7/8"
    Front: 23 1/4"
(need to measure the other points)

I'll update once it settles. I'm wondering if I need some sort of spring seat or an actual MK2 perch in the rear to even it out. Might have to come up with something. I'm sort of just hoping the front will settle more and I'll get 23" at all four corners.
