when i owned my corrado i got a lot of people asking me why i painted my delorean and then some people were like "man i remember when my cousin had a scirocco like yours".

I miss the days when people thought it was a Scirocco. Seems the `rocco's passed from public memory, and all I get is "..pump 5, the black, uh....um....car, you're ready to fill.."

I haven't driven the Rado much.
I'm gonna have to say this thing attracts more dudes than chicks..
When I first got it all the guys told me "Man that things beastin, I wanna drive it." or something like that.
The girls show no interest at all haha. But I do not care, it's faster than all their Mustangs in the twisties.

I need to get a new wing motor, so the next time a Saki powered ride pulls up next to me wanting to race I can put the wing up and see if he still wants some.

theres a gay guy at the great clips i get my haircut at and he said "hey man, what kinda car is that?" and i told him, explained how rare it was and what i had to go through to get it and he said "oh i thought it was some kinda ferrari or something". yeah i know i know, the comment made me laugh and feel bad for his lack of knowledge about anything automotive more than make me feel good about my car. lol. i still get the scirocco thing though. apparently people know what those are (or at least that they are PRODUCED) more than they know what a corrado is. i love rare cars.

as I was driving to Tysons yesterday to drop off the S6 for service, and I passed by a very sweet purple SLC with the license plate "SLC YA" and I found myself staring and gave the thumbup also.

    Spotted in Tysons !
I was admiring your S6 while on the toll road, nice car ya got there.
Thanks for the kind words on the C, I would have rolled down the window but was juggling the phone and 2nd gear at the time.
BTW, my wife loves my car !!

I'm in DC today, just parked + feeding the parking meter when I noticed this girl checking out my car.
I first thought of this post + the fact that I'm gonna get a complement from a looker about my car.
    So I ask her if she's familiar w/ VW's ?
"No" she said "I'm trying to figure out WHAT you tag says ? slice ya ??? WHAT does that mean ??"
Just one of those days, I guess.

So I am going to bump this thread now that it's 4 and a half years later (eek). Next month will be 5 years with the Corrado, which is by far the longest I have ever owned one automobile.

Although it's been over four years, it has only been about 10,000 miles more. I drive the car less and less now, given that it doesn't have heat or air conditioning. If it's nice out, I usually ride the motorcycle than drive the Corrado. So it sits in my garage and looks pretty, while leaking little drops of oil onto the oil mat I have under the engine.

However, when I take it out, no less than two to three people stare or give me a thumbs up. It isn't even just VW people. Last month two people in pickup trucks rolled down the window to say "nice car".

But staying true to the original title of this thread, it's never women giving any attention.

I noticed it too. In my experience it's usually older dudes that throw a thumbs up. Or fellow VW enthusiasts.

A bunch of honda kids over here. I have even gone to GTGs and people all flock to the beat rabbits or mkiv Frankenstein BS. NEVER women and in fact my girlfriend says "this thing looks the same as it did 3 years ago, even after the thousands of dollars and thousands of hours you put into it. When are you going to sell it?" I dated a girl for short time that was super into working on Corrados. She looked like she was super into working on Corrados... Even my guy VAG buddies don't appreciate it at all until I show them what "stage 5" means.

When I first got a Corrado, I was the only male I knew who had one. Every other Corrado owner I met was a sorority girl at UC Santa Barbara.

Took a few years for that to even itself out.

smogging a girl's mk4 golf and she asks me, "is that your corrado?"

    i reply, "sure is."

"thats cool, i used to have one until it was too expensive to keep."

and then the plastic coolant line blew up on her golf because we saw the air hose that was disconnected off the airbox and decided to plug it back in and brushed against the coolant line.

so she gave me her business card so she could come back and get it fixed

anyways, a lot of attention in general. it mainly stays hard parked.

Attention from younger guys and girlz. The Corrado has become the Nova of my generation (I no like Nova) When I first bought the Corrado my wife loved it.... now....She hates it... mainly because it's loud and the money and attention I have spent on it

The bruthas (noracist) LOVE the Corrado. Perhaps it's just the Burgundy Pearl Metallic paint, but most are genuinely excited when they see the car.

Aside from that, I generally don't notice other people as I am usually driving it like an asshat anyway.

Same thing here, Mine is the LC3U freshly redone with some polished Salad Shooters until I can afford some Schmidts' or whatever else tickles my fancy...maybe its the dark color with the nice metallic flake mixed with the big polished wheels and stretched tires, but anyone non-white (according to US Census)...seems to LOVE the car...

Speaking in terms of girls, every time I drive it to a show, local meet or even down the turnpike or highway I always seem to get a lot of girls staring at it as I drive by...I've gotten quite a few smiles and waves and thumbs up from girls, but only 3 or 4 have every approached me to chat about it.

It does seem to be more of a guy car as they are typically the ones to approach me and ask about it, and its funny when they have no clue what it is (shaved vw badge under Plate, badgeless grill) so there are no VW emblems on it besides the steering wheel and transmission.

However, as someone stated in the first page...my girlfriend LOVES my Corrado...but I also feel its because she knows what it means to me and how much time and love I have put into it. She thinks I get emotional over it more than I do her...as it should be but she is an avid Audi fan, owning a B5 S4 herself, very clean, but before we were dating she actually asked to buy my Corrado...to which I responded, HELL NO BISH

All in all, I think the wheels and color and stance kind of depend on your attention from males or females. I'm low wide and burgundy so women tend to like it but don't approach me unless I'm parked at a show with it, where as almost every day I get some dude walking up at a gas station or parking lot just to ask about what is done to it and it really is cool to see how many other people have had them and want them and currently own one...or a few

That being said, I love my baby, and chick magnet or not I will NEVER sell it...after all the time money and heartaches we have been through, my girl is here to stay

I don't want girls to like my corrado, I don't want them near it, to ask questions or to ask if they can drive it. My family likes it and respect my love for it and let me deal with it alone. My 12 year old knows she will never drive it when she gets her license and my lady doesn't dare ask why she hasn't.

This is what the ladies of my life have done to the Corrado

    1. Wife drove 20 miles with the E brake on

    2. Wife smashed side of car( Pole )

    3. 3yr old daughter decided to write on my car with a rock from front passenger fender around to entire backside

When I asked my daughter why she did it she said " Well you never drive it."

That's what I was getting at.... if I would have taken your stance to begin with.

Needless to say the wife no longer drives the Corrado. I have a feeling my marriage to my C is going to outlast my marriage to the wife

A few years ago we decided to try a little "social experiment" with an uncle.
First, we drove in a really nicely done 911 in front of a popular, crowded restaurant that has sidewalk tables. We got many stares and smiles and pretty obvious "come hither" looks from lots of the women sitting outside.
Next, we went and got the Corrado, did the same thing. Not one look, nothing! We thought it was pretty funny at the time.
If it has boobs or wheels, sooner or later you're gonna have problems with it.

I've gotten a lot of attention of Porsche owners, like stated before.

Also, my corrado is MILF MAGNET.
