Thread: Oil change: how to guide for 2006 2.0T Passat...???

    1. 05-18-2008 05:48 PM #1
Any how to guides or, if not necessary, tips on changing oil in an 06 2.0T Passat???

I bought the filter and realized it's not what I am used to. I plan to run the Amsoil 5w-40 European.

Thanks in advance for any info.

the biggest difference the oil filter.

This thread below is a good thread to use.

you need to buy a 36mm socket wrench for the oil filter removal.

YOu can get the oil filter drain tool (if you want to spend the extra money) from http://www.ecstuning.com

I just replied to that old thread ..oops
Can't you just put a wrench on the oil pan plug and drain into a pan and put a set of channel locks on the filter housing and drain and remove cartridge ..

the oil drain plug is no different from any other car-- you can use a wrench. THe link is the best one I can find, that describes the oil filter, which happens to use a Pella pump.

The filter housing, I would not use channel locks, unless you really want to destroy the housing (which is very thin plastic) and screw up. Use the right tool for the job. The socket isn't that expensive.
