So, drove up to the RDG today to take my grandmother to the doctor. Everything was fine but id saw about 2 times when i was at a traffic light this happened... when i would come to a stop, it would idle a little high but the slowly go back down. Then it would jump a little bit (id say go up 2 notches or whatever) and just do it for a little. Then it would go back down and not move.

Scott - do u think its the relay or do i have to clean the MAF out more? It only jumps sometimes

Steph- I've been unable to get on the internet until a half hour ago- a DS3 was cut on Verizon's end, and we had no T1 to the internet.

Well, if the idle is hunting, mostly climbing it seems, and you aren't getting a CEL for any reason, then it may not be related to that Low RPM code you had earrlier. It's really hard to say what it could be without seeing it firsthand, Steph. The MAF can only get so clean, and it's as clean as it can be at this point. If the MAF is still good, then we've done what we can there. If it is bad, then all we can do is try a known good one. I'd need to investigate it, to see what else might be allowing the idle to climb- There is that RPM sensor, but what the symptoms are for a bad one, I have no idea.

Let me see what I can find out, OK? I never did get to order that Fuel Pump Relay cause of the internet fun and crappy work getting in the way.

    Not So Ninja Edit:
Here's a good thread on what other issues could cause a weird 2.0 idle: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3630519
^ This indicates some type of vacuum leak which can make things get goofy with the idle speed. Maybe there are other hoses which need examining for craks or splits, Steph. Since it seems like it does this when warm and not cold, it could be a vacuum leak.

Sure- one other thing- I found out what the procedures are for a VAG COM Throttle Body alignment for the cable operated Throttle Bodies, but I think the Mk3 2.0L has an ISV, which means that I cannot align the Throttle body. So, perhaps the ISV (Idle Stab. Valve) needs a good cleaning out. I'd look at it tonight, but I gotta help my sister look at a car.
