that's why i'm saying sell it. the car isn't worth putting $3.4k worth of parts in it. I'm sure he could sell it and cut losses... and start on something new.

It'll be sitting because I don't have the money to fix it. Well not until winter break anyway. As far as making the car drivable it only needs motor mounts and a timing belt change but by the time I save up that money it'll be winter and I won't drive it. The rest of my parts list is to get rid of my cel put the new wheels on and other not so important stuff. It's really not that bad but the longest time will be me figuring out how to raise the motor. The oem pan has an oil level sensor so I can't run a hybrid pan and if I raise the motor I run into issues with the angles of the center drive shaft and I would need a custom built down pipe to clear the subframe. Also I would possibly need to notch both sides of the frame with a 1/2" or more spacer.
As far as solutions I'm going to try and delete the oil sensor and run a hybrid pan and go with that for now because that should give me a little more Clearance. Then possibly a set of custom 1/4" spacers and a custom 3" to 2.5" back to 3" down pipe. I just need lots of time to figure out how and the best way to do everything so I don't have to go back and do it twice.

And as far as value it's worth it. The cars still worth over 10k and Noah with the other aviator is thinking about selling his for 25k with all the parts. I figure if I parted my car there's 10k in parts hiding plus the value of the car so what's another 3k to make it perfect. And having the truck to dd makes it easier for me to deal with. It can sit and wait.

You're not going to get 25k with 100k miles. I just think after awhile its good to call it quits and get a car you actually can drive.

I dunno just me but having a car sit like that (and lose value) is just not smart financially.

It has 200,000 miles about 50,000 are track miles on a SCCA raced car. But as far as mine the value will be about the same as long as I keep the miles off it. It's work $250 more then it was last year

doesn't matter.. people have this idea that they can get well above market value for a car just because the amount of mods on it. The chance of finding a buyer who will pay that is next to none.. it's very rare. I can count on one hand the number of people i know who've gotten more than twice the current value of their cars in the five years i've really been in this scene.

He will be lucky to get 15k for it if that. It's not like the TT is a collectible car, so even if it sits it will continue to gradually lose value.

This discussion reminds me of the kid on here with the silver b6 who with 55k is trying to sell his car for $25,000. Claims the mods increase the value. They don't.

Hey, you told me to give up on the Jetta when it was becoming a money pit, i did. just saying that car is getting to the point where your costs are really gonna increase. We know how vw's are past 100k.. look at the 2x+ cost of audi parts.. are you really going to be continually broke?

i guess the truck is so awesome, no one can handle putting a sticker on it

im going to fix it properly with new metal but just want it inspected so i can still enjoy it for a little while yet

If your going to just go back and fix it all correctly this winter anyways then why not just half ass it and when you leave the place rip your patch off. I have seen some pretty half ass repairs pass for holes in the body. You could rivet a piece of sheet metal over it, fiberglass it, tape it, bondo it, expandafoam it (obv not recomended ), i've seen aluminum foil, wood, newspaper that was glued and painted i mean some of these are just stupid but theres plenty of easy ways to get around the system. Personally if your just going to undo it and do it the right way then i would just take the ten minutes and rivet sheet metal or fiberglass it and then rip it off when you go to replace it.
