Thread: my mk2 ABA turbo project.

  1. 06-01-2008 11:09 PM #1
garrett t3 turbo, .42 cold, .48 hot side. I only want 10-15 psi of boost and a moderate 180-200 hp out of it.

I will be buying 42lb injectors, tial 38mm wastegate, tial 50mm BOV, ebay intercooler, and I'm still looking for a manifold. obviously the downpipe and the charge pipes will be done at my friend's shop.

Other than kinetic's manifold, are there any others that have the flange for an external wastegate? preferably cheaper?

Looks like the start of a great project! Have you checked out ATP's manifold? It looks like they have an external wastegate option.

zornig makes a real nice log manifold for not much money, look him up at racecraft fabrication

also, i think that turbo is pretty darn small...but not bad for the price i suppose. since youll have a t3 flange on your manifold you can always upgrade later...

    well, its only an 8v

and I couldn't find a log manifold for 8v applications listed. I'll send him an email though.

well, money has been short and will be for the next few months. I will be getting my stuff slowly but will allow me to make things right.

I got my ebay intercooler a week ago and since my car pulls to the side when I press the throttle (ball joint) I decided to start on the intercooler mounting. since the car is going to be sitting for at least a week.

heres a pic of the ebay intercooler

So I already have turbo and intercooler.
next thing on the list is 440 injectors and oil supply.
i'll update as soon as I finish the intercooler mounting.

Where are you going to weld that external wastegate flange? I am looking to convert mine to external.

you gotta put the turbo on it first and see where your exhaust and intake piping will be that way you know where to put the wastegate. you don't want to get it done and find out its going to be in the way.

Yea def a good idea, so I should probably buy a flange and a wastegate. I already have this setup in my mk2 except with a g60 block and mk2 head. Mine has a T3 Super 60 with an internal wastegate on the side and I hate it. I need something better.

    Thanks!

Intercooled, 440's, good turbo, c2 programming?... you should be able to run 20lbs of boost.
