x2 after rescuing 3 different dogs (pitbull/lab, chow/lab, and a beagle/corgy) I dont think I would ever go elsewhere to get a dog again, there are so many dogs in shelters that need good homes

I agree with rescuing. But i can understand some people wanting 100% pure APBT's as well. But i def plan on rescuing as manyt pits as I can when I get my own house!

x2 To each their own. If you are going to show the dog then buy a pure bred, if it's just going to be a family dog I'd say get one from a shelter. When our older shepherd/lab mix (a rescue dog) passes we'll be going to the get another pit from the shelter.

i have one true papered APBT that was taken from a garage in RI at age 3.5 or so, where he had lived for 8 weeks without food other then old garbage, and he was a $1,800 dog when bought as a pup, i know cos met him 3 months after he was bought... the other 2 rescues, i'm not paying to confirm their liniage...

Yea. Its all a matter of taste. There still a dog. I love my dog, shes my first pit, but always loved them. i got her from a breeder to learn better before I do adopt one. Cause usually the adoptee's need a little more work, or have some kind of neglect in there life.

So thats why I got my first from a breeder.

as far as rescue vs. breeder- thats a whole nother can of worms. if you have the breeds best interest in mind- you will spay/neuter your dogs ( no matter HOW much you paid for them, leave the breeding to the peopl ewho know what they are doing) i have 4 prospects here, and if they dont meet my standards they will be spayed/neutered. planned litter isnt until late 2012/early 2013 and none will be leaving the yard.
      3 of the prospects...
      lil sue...

and her sister, black dawn...(they are about 8 months old now)

      kearney, working the hide...

Awesome pits man. There about the same as my pit. Alexis is just a lil overeight from the winter. She will be working alot this summer. She loves pulling and tugging so I gotta set up a springpole for her

How much does she weigh? Check out the pics I posted of my Lilah. She looks so tiny compared to the rest, but she's weighing in at 40lbs or so. She carries it well I guess. I can't wait for the warm weather either; can't wait to take her for daily runs with me.

As for rescuing. I'll be doing it from here out too. I'm 19, Lilah is my first rescue; she was rescued from the ghetto, not a shelter.

Alexis is like 53, 54lbs. Shes a red nose colby/gator, they are smaller but compact and all muscle. Alexis is jacked, but her winter fats taken over. Like this dog, same bloodline as alexis, and shes 48lbs, and you cant say shes out of shape in anyway.

      Shes a red nose colby/gator

im sorry, but there is no such thing as a red nosed colby dog-in over 100 years not 1 has ever been documented. i have been to the colby's yard.

the colby/gator combo ( coupled w/ a nose color) is what alot of back yard breeders will say the line is. you can also find gatormouf, american, tiger, etc as "lines" totued by a BYB.

colby is not a "line" anyhow- its a "family", a dog used heavily in that family breeding program creates the "line"
example- colby is the family, lotus would be the line ( dogs bred down from colby's lotus)
boyles is the family, dirty mary would be the line (dogs bred down from dirty mary.
this dog is heavy hank/boyles with a colby out...
      http://www.apbt.online-pedigre...01576
      another example for you-
this is what the pedigree of a "double bred" dog looks like...
http://www.apbt.online-pedigre...06171 ( double bred on sue)

reading a pedigree and getting it right takes some time to learn though. but unless you know the folks doing the breeding, and the dogs in question-its all a guess

I know what you mean. I blinked an my Oreo was 8 years old. She is so smart and sweet. Never snarled at anyone for 8 years.

She 3/4 pit and 1/4 black lab. She kinda large but very muscular. She's been about 80 lbs for a good 4-5 years now

How about I show you the puppy that was recently mauled to death by a pit?

Maybe I should psot the picture of his dead/broken/mangled/bloody body too? If you lvoe your dogs, which I'm sure you do...never EVER let them off the leash when outside...not even in your back ayrd, they cannot be totally trusted...don't fool yourself into beliveing "my dog could never do that"...if it's a pit...it most certainly could. The lady who owns the PB that killed my puppy swears her dog could not have done it...even though I SAW IT WITH MY OWN EYES...and now she is going to loose a dog she loves, because she foolishly believed that her dog could never do that and foolishly left it unsupervided in her back yard. So...PLEASE PLEASE...never ever let your dog out of your site when it is out of the house.

you know what? i was supportive of you and your thread- but THIS is absolute bull**** you ****er, GTFO of here w/ your sob story- YOU are also to blame whether or not you chose to accept it- YO Uleft your dog out unnattended, and for that YOU are partly to blame. ****ing idiot. go post this **** in EVERY OTHER THREAD ABOUT EVERY OTHER BREED OF DOG, douchebag
