At a recent dinner with an industry friend, it was explained to me that one weakness of Fourtitude as compared to other Audi websites is the existence of an off-topic forum where users can let off steam and discuss their other interest beyond cars. Of course, we do have plenty of non-car subject-focused forums in our networked Community Forums area, but there is no specific place for Audi owners to pull up a chair, grab a beer and simply talk with each other.

With the new 4T OT forum, we've decided to add this feature. Keeping it in the Audi section of our forums rather than a more obviously networked portion of our forums means it will be focused on, but not limited to, Audi owners and Fourtitude users. As it is, this forum will still be viewable from sister websites such as VWvortex and Motive Magazine, but we believe the placement of the forum will keep those with Audi interests the main players in this section.

What is Off-Topic? For those who haven't gotten intimate with similar setups on other sites, it's open game. Talk about anything is allowable so long as it meets our user agreement. If might fly close to the borders outlined by those rules, we'd suggest you re-read them.

Also, bear in mind the nature of this forum. It's not uncommon to find subjectively offensive posts, widely different political opinions and the like. We ask you to take two points of advice if you plan on being active in here.

1.) KEEP A THICK SKIN. If someone calls you an idiot or says something objectionable to your own idea of right and wrong, we suggest you turn the other cheek or walk away. So long as posts are not vulgar or sexually explicit, we're going to have a fairly loose moderating style in this section.

2.) USE CARE BEFORE YOU POST. Yes, there will be others more sensitive or with differing views than you. Keep the internet cajones in check and think twice before you call someone an 'idiot' or describe their own posts as 'stupid' or something of the like.

Thanks guys and girls. Enjoy the forum.

I always thought this forum was missing an OT section, I'm a carlounge person and want one there but this will have to do. Now lets get things going.

How come vortex doesn't have s*** like this?

  5. 07-21-2009 07:38 PM #5
Cause at one time vortex had an OT forum, but too many idiots were posting stupid crap, so they got rid of it because it was too much for the mods to handle

I can proudly say that i've never been banned. But this section seems to challenge my status every time I come in here!

Vortex did have an OT but it got out of hand. This forum is intended for Audi owner and enthusiast readers and it's a Fourtitude forum. Yes, it is viewable by VWvortex readers and they're welcome to use it so long as it doesn't get out of hand? What's out of hand? Well, it's a gray area. If you have to ask, then you probably already know the answer.

We'll moderate this forum loosely. That said, we're going to use forums-specific bans as necessary. Enjoy.

Haha. Not at all. If VWvortex had an off topic forum then I doubt they'd be happy if it were overrun say with BMW owners. There are a lot of VW owners on Vortex and if they play nice in here then they're more than welcome. This is an Audi forum though and a choice I made as the Fourtitude admin to add this forum. I took responsibility in adding it and not necessarily for the giant elephant in the room that is the Vortex.

Anyone can play. We just reserve the right to limit to Audi owners... not saying we will, but if the moderation gets out of hand... then we will.

I was so happy to see an OT forum.... then I realized it was on Fourtitude... then I was sad because it reminded me that I don't have an Audi right now, and then I cried, but was it the forlorn lust I lost or the fact that I've had too much wine tonight? Do I belong anywhere anymore.... oh V8quattro I knew thee well..... then I thought I haven't had fun on these forums in a long time... not since the dark times of the eeya, not since I erroneously whacked the hornets nest at the wrong time with the wrong club. But now... does hope live within what is left of the shell formerly known as Silly_me?
