I'm looking to install my B&Gs tomorrow -- Doug (friedguy) and myself think we've got most of it figured out, but it looks as though air tools might be needed. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone here have tools or access to them? Thanks.

i think you'll be fine without air tools but it would make the process go a lot faster.

    Good to know

    Any tips?

are you reusing the same bumpstops etc?

i had to cut mine up a bit to modify them.

i would suggest to grab some zip ties so you can zip tie your abs lines/sensor onto the tabs on the body so that when you are low your tires dont rub the lines and break them like mine did

only reason i think we might need air tools is due to the design b&g has. there is no way to keep hold the piston if it spins while tightening the top nut on the front strut assembly.

there is a chance that they are designed so it doesn't spin, but i won't know until we try it.

So if I decide to cut the bumpstops on my Konis, you would know enough to keep me from messing them up?

yeah i had to use a air gun to remove the top nut on the front struts. Thats my only concern about the B&G's.

Well theres nothing to it really. I just cut a portion off from it to fit into the suspension setup. If you didn't have to then i would probably just leave it at that. Trying to go lower? take out the perch

Middle perch was never installed. I need to remove the spacer and cut the bumpstop to see if it gives a better ride like the VMaxx.

  11. 10-10-2008 07:44 PM #291
just finished a little while ago... everything pretty much went as expected. we think we need to have someone impact the top nut just to make sure it's tight, but even that may be overkill..

he needs spacers though... the front tires are rubbing on struts... pics later.

Yeah -- we finally got them on. One of the struts was a bitch to get apart, but Doug really helped me out a ton today. I would have needed to take it to a shop without him

I do rub in the front -- gonna probably pick up a pair of 8mm spacers for the front and 15mm for the back.

Car looks great, the front is low, low; the back is a little higher, but we're going to wait for it to settle a bit and reevaluate.

Saw the pictures on CCVT. Looks good, I'm jealous of the height. Skid plate or any plans for one

Dunno. Gotta fix the tire rub first. I really don't know that I'm interested in a skidplate. I plan on driving it pretty safely. Probably going to put one on after I sacrifice the first oilpan to the car gods

Hah. Sounds good to me. You shouldn't have too much to worry about. I've been low (though not your low) since March of last year and I haven't killed one yet.

raise the collar back up so its not hitting your tires until you get spacers to clear it. Forget the skidplate, its not worth it. It will hang lower and hit a lot more things. Ive been slammed for years and still haven't replaced my pan. Subframe has taken hits before but the oil pan is still good.

i guess he'd have to go wayyyy high to not hit. probably have the collar actually above the tire (which may be what you are suggesting). the tire was against the strut assembly before we even put the car on the ground.

  18. 10-11-2008 01:07 AM #298
yeah exactly what i was suggesting.

no point in killing your tires and possibly chipping the inside of the wheel for a couple days while you order the proper spacers to clear.
I just wrote on ccvt but i have a set of generic 5mm spacers you can use to test it out if you guys like. Can even have them for like $10. They are nothing special to look at, just generic 5mm spacers.

    UPS brought me a present.

Still need to glue if I'm going to do it myself. I still prefer to find a professional.

Of course man. Dustin and Dado met at a car meet actually years ago while Dustin was at his beginnings out of college and Dado was just a newb who had boatloads of talent with his M3 showcar. They decided to start hanging out and film stunts and Dado drifting and it blew up from there when Dustin and Sean (the owner of Pornstar Clothing Co.) started Teckademics. Dado then became the "by default" stunt driver and the DVDs started tearing up Best Buys nationwide.
There was also supposed to be an MTV series modeled after our crew and sadly many people got fired at MTV in 2006-2007 so that project got cancelled without anyone knowing why.
I for one got involved with Teckademics way back in the day when it was just a baby lol Dustin and I hung out with the same people, shared the same passion and so I joined the crew since 2002 (roughly about a year and a half after Teckademics started).
Nowadays we go simply by the name MISCHIEF (the name of the movie series) and have since dropped the name Teckademics for reasons I can't really discuss on the forums...I can tell you in person though and answer any questions you all may have!

I'll help you out, but I'm a newb as well. We need to have an install day sometime. Although I don't have anything to install really. Anybody do the short shifter that goes on the tranny? I installed a Fidanza short throw (B&M copy) when I first got the car, but I've been thinking of buying the B&M and the tranny part as well.

    Call Schoolhouse fabrics:

    Telephone:
    Phone: (540) 745-4561

    Email:
    sfabrics@swva.net

They are a three story fabric place in Floyd (20 minutes away). I know last time I was in there I saw suede but don't remember alcantara. I know there are some other guys looking for fabric right now, it wouldn't be a bad cruise if everyone wanted to get together and take a drive up there.
